The Fight:
This is the whole Horde vs Alliance Gunship battle. The goal is it use the ship's Cannons to destroy the other ship before they destroy your ship.
Before you start, everyone should talk to the goblin/gnome npc to get yourself a Jetpack, put it on your action bars. This is the means to jump from one ship to the other.
Cannon Duty:
There'll be 4 (2 in 10 man) of these. They work on an Overheat mechanic. Using "1", the Cannon Blast, will do the attack and fill your bar with "Heat" (your combo point mechanic). When the bar fills up, you overheat and will be immobalized for 5 seconds. Using "2", the Incinerating Blast, will remove all your heat and do extra damage. So the goal is, to get as much Heat as possible without Overheating, and use the Incinerating Blast. Watch the guages and don't mindlessly spam. Best to have lowest melee dps on these cannons.
For the rest of the raid, there'll be 2 tanks, split the raid. One half defending your ship, the other half attacking theirs. Note, every single add will gain a stacking buff on themselves over time increasing their own damage and attacks speeds, so it is imperative to not leave any single add up too long and randomly focusing on another. Ideally kill in the order they appear to minimize this, but you'll likely wind up aoe'ing anyways. They also all have Desperate Resolve, which means they hit faster near death, healers be aware of the spike damage that'll occur.
Defenders: Should consist of mostly 1 tank 3ish healers, and ranged. There are 2 types of adds to deal with, Sergeants and Reavers.
Sergeants basically have a Mortal Strike and Bladestorm. This is why melee are not ideal on this side, ranged should have an easier time escaping. Reavers just hit hard. The tank is to pick them all up while ranged take em all down.
You should also get your ship captain involved, Bronzebeard/Saurfang. Drag adds over if he's not doing anything, they help a lot with damage. And one last thing, there will be rocket strikes from the Rocketeers, think Mimiron circles, don't stand in them. Another reason for ranged, able to spread out for them.
Attackers: Should consist of another tank and 2ish healers, and the melee. There are 4 types of mobs on this side, Bronzebeard/Saurfang, Rocketeers, Axethrowers, and the Battle Mage.
Bronzebeard/Saurfang should be tanked. Nothing else there needs to be. But should not be attacked, unconfirmed reports that if he's about to be killed, he'll just kill every one of you. So tank just keeps him occupied, healers keep him up. He will do a ranged Rending Throw on people if not tanked. Also, there's a Battle Fury self buff that he stacks on himself with each attack, and it's on an internal CD. It will come to a point where every one must leave the enemy ship and wait the 20 seconds for the buff to fall off. .
Rocketeers are the ones firing rockets and stuff at your ship. There will always be 4 of them, assign 2ish melee dps to kill them. These adds also follow the Experienced mechanic, so do remember to not always kill the new one that spawns and take out the older ones.
Axethrowers throw, axes, physical damage at the raid. 3ish plate dps would be best to take them up. There will always be 8 of them up. Experienced mechanic applies.
Battle Mages only appear every so often, timer or maybe percent based, not sure. But when they appear, they'll freeze up the cannons. That's when all the attackers dps switch to focus him down. The ones in the cannon can jump over to the other ship and help. If needed, and the defender side is under control, some of those ranged can help too.
And that's all the fight is, while keeping the adds under control, it's all up to the cannoneers to take down the enemy ship to end the fight. For those stuck on the enemy ship when it goes down, we will remember your sacrifice!
Achievements:
I'm on a Boat - Claim victory in the Gunship Battle in which every raid member visits the enemy gunship only once in 10/25-player mode.
- In the 10 man, we first waited until the first Mage appears before sending the Attackers over. They stay on for a couple of Mages before jumping back. Then the 2nd team waits for a battle mage, and they jump over, kill ship before they all die. One thing of note, brez's or use of rocket pack on the attacking ship will negate the achievement. It appears to try to figure it out by how many times your feet lands on the ship, so don't do any jet pack kiting.

One note, reports are that the Battle Fury buff works on an Internal CD with each attack he does. Not each attack he lands. That means the whole concept of avoidance and kiting is kinda useless.
Also some notes for I'm on a Boat, reports are...

saedo — Fri, 10/30/2009 - 11:21Here's a kill vid for this:
So clarity on a few things. Appears to be 3 cannons. The raid seems to be somewhat evenly split on both gunships.
On your boat side, seems like 1 tank for all the adds, aoe single target whatever. The Sergeant appears to be the big "boss" type threat of the bunch.
On the enemy boat side, you appear to have a single tank for Saurfang/Muradin. While the rest of the raid kills off Rocketeers as they're the ones hitting your gunship. Also kill the axethrowers. Not sure if they need tanks, or maybe psuedo tank, appears people were hitting them no problems. Anyways, when the mage appears, switch to that.
To switch boats, it appears that you merely have to walk off the edge and you'd be launched there. So you can freely move from one side to the other if help is needed.
