Melee DPS vs Level 83s
saedo — Sun, 11/02/2008 - 12:22
So last night I went to that city boss attempt on Sylvanas. 43% was the best shot. Lots of shit kept respawning, aggro kept resetting, she got evade bugged a few times, and Horde eventually overrun the room.
Anyways, here's the real point of this post for all those that want to know. I did a Recount on it and looked at it to compare what effect a level 83 has on my attacks.
Hit: -5%
- That's pretty much it. White damage misses increased. Yellow damage didn't really miss at all (well above cap regardless).
Glancing Blow Rate: 58%
- Maybe it's RNG, so it's close to 60%, but vs level 73s, it went up from about 20-25%. Nothing we can do can reduce this. The old ways of Weapon Skill and stuff would've helped, but they don't exist anymore.
Glancing Blow Damage Reduction: 92%
- Maybe another RNG, so close to 90%. That is also up from the level 73's 20ish%. Again nothing we can do to reduce this with the old old way of weapon skills no longer existing.
So from this, my damage overall probably dropped about 50% due mostly to Glancing Blows. Hit won't do much shit against these bosses. It only really affected my white damage which got reduced to a measely 34 at times.
My conclusion is to entirely focus on pumping up Yellow Damage stats. That's Agi, AP, crit, armor pen. Defininitely my Sinister Strikes doing most all the damage I did.
But of course you probably don't want those missing either. Assuming only a 5% increase in miss, here are those hit caps:
Saedo's Wrath Wishlist
saedo — Mon, 10/06/2008 - 15:27
So with Wrath rapidly approaching I decided to retire the old wishlist and start up a new one based on the Roguecraft Spreadsheet. All these values are taken at level 80. Also, it might not be perfect at the moment with all the new mechanics. List is probably also incomplete while beta is still being tinkered with.
- Current DPS: 3591.80 dps
- Warglaive Bonus: 4.84 dps
- T6 4 Set Bonus: 37.65 dps
Tuque the Would be Tanker
saedo — Sun, 09/21/2008 - 01:54
So, on the side I've been scraping various tanking pieces for the hell of it. Hey, it's plate, not a lot of competition usually so default default default! So I thought I might try to use it one of these days.
Anyways, like the nerd in me twice before, I gotta make a list. It'll help me figure out what I should gem, what I should enchant, etc, etc. But a bit harder to simply rank this gear. Have to figure out avoidance, stam, and threat. And can't really mix the stuff, so perhaps having 2-3 pieces around more tailored to one of the 3 would be more useful for the diff situations.
So, going by avoidance first, with special mention of threat and stam. First off the numbers!
7.9 Block Rating = 1% Block
15 Defense Rating = 0.25% Miss, 0.25% Dodge, 0.25% Parry, 0.25% Block => 0.066666667
18.9 Dodge Rating = 1% Dodge => 0.052910052
22.4 Parry Rating = 1% Parry => 0.044642857
25 Agility = 1% Dodge => 0.04

We are Terrorists!

Well according to that article, the Pentagon made a presentation with a scenario of terrorists communicating a plot in WoW. So if we ever see people talking in trade chat or something about raiding unknown places in lowbie zones using Everquest items and getting weird monetary values for rewards.... THEY ARE TERRORISTS!
The Hard Drive
saedo — Mon, 08/18/2008 - 13:03
So pop quiz for all you computer nerds. Here's the scenario:
Computer just shuts down. Like crashes hard, sudden black screen and all. Power light starts flashing. Can't even turn the damn thing off. And the high temperatures that occured probably didn't help at all.
Anyways, upon pulling the plug to get it off. Opening the case, spray some dust away. Turning it back on, it would do the standard bootup til it loads Windows. Thats when everything remains black and only hard drive activity happens.
So I leave it off a while, put a fan to it, and finally after a while, turning it back on and everything seems normal.
Would I be correct to assume I kinda overheated the hard drive? Would it be a one time stressed thing or a path of a dying drive?
I've had hard drive problems before where it'd just stall and do nothing and that forced a replacement. Not gonna look foward to needing a whole new one and reinstalling everything. Though I do still have it under a warrenty, if only I can copy stuff over to a new drive before they jack it. Though, might need it to permanently die before they'd allow an exchange. lol
But at least now I run WoW off an older, smaller, seemingly more reliable hard drive. lol Guess I should copy some more of the important things over.
Tuque's Wishlist
saedo — Sat, 06/14/2008 - 09:28
Since my Pally reached 70, the nerd in me started to look at possible gear upgrades. And guess what happened, I of course planned out my whole upgrade path. I'd probably never even see half this stuff, but whatever, call me a dreamer. lol
So I needed some system to rank the gear. I did find some stat weights to use on EJ so I went with that.
Healing: 1 (Base Value)
Intellect: 2.25
Spell Crit: 2.25
MP5: 4.5
Spell Haste: 2.0
Anyways, tell me of the ranks look approximately correct if you can, or if you see anything vastly wrong with the list or something I'm missing, tell me please!
