Building A New Computer - Would Love Any Advice!
Disrupter — Thu, 03/11/2010 - 01:48
Hey guys! I have intention to upgrade my computer and this is what we came up with. I'm a little ignorant on what's good and what's not, and I was considering the WoW Cube but due to multiple reasons I'm going to need to build it from mostly scratch. This is a gaming computer for around 600~ worth of items.

These are the items my father came up with when he did a search, a form of rough draft, and I wanted to run it by you guys and see what you all thought. We're looing at a quad core cpu with a double video card set up, supposedly it's alot better? I wanted to know what your guys opinions are, he's pretty pissed that I won't just take his word for it but I don't want all that money to be spent and find out it was a stupid mistake :P. So if anyone that's knowledgeable about this and would like to take a whack at helping that'd be awesome.
(5-6 hundred, apparently wants AMD over Intel, we'll be buying the parts over a few month period.)
Moonkin Gearing - ToC 25 Heroic Level
Disrupter — Wed, 10/07/2009 - 06:07
Hello! I've taken the time to create an optimal Moonkin gear list. I've also made one for my personal gearing path, as some items are so small of an upgrade over other items I have (Example [Blade of Tarasque] is only 40 dps below the mace, and that is assuming I replace another piece of gear at the same time.
I've come to the conclusion that the best set up is t9.258 4 piece with helm, chest, shoulders, and gloves with 258 pants of Anub. Sadly, unless you get all 4 pieces of 258 tier gear, you'll do more dps with 2 piece t9 (Head/Chest) and 2 piece t8 (Shoulders/Gloves).
This list is the current optimal gear set:
Head: [Malfurion's Cover of Triumph]
Neck: [Wail of the Val'kyr]
Shoulder: [Malfurion's Mantle of Triumph]
Cloak: [Jaina's Radiance]
Chest: [Malfurion's Vestments of Triumph]
Wrist: [Bindings of Dark Essence]
Hand: [Malfurion's Gloves of Triumph]
Waist: [Cord of Biting Cold]
Legs: [Legwraps of the Awakening]
Feet: [Boots of the Unrelenting Storm]
Ring 1: [Firestorm Ring]
Ring 2: [Band of Deplorable Violence]
Trinket 1: [Reign of the Unliving]
Trinket 2: [Reign of the Unliving]
Main Hand: [Misery's End]
Off Hand: [Chalice of Searing Light]
Idol: [Idol of Lunar Fury]
This upcoming list is basically the optimal set you can have, if you aren't capable of getting 4 pieces of 258 tier but can atleast get 2 pieces of 245 tier and have old tier 8 in the bags.
Head: [Malfurion's Cover of Triumph]
Neck: [Wail of the Val'kyr]
Shoulder: [Conqueror's Nightsong Mantle]
Cloak: [Jaina's Radiance]
Chest: [Malfurion's Vestments of Triumph]
Wrist: [Bindings of Dark Essence]
Hand: [Conqueror's Nightsong Gloves]
Waist: [Cord of Biting Cold]
Legs: [Legwraps of the Awakening]
Feet: [Boots of the Unrelenting Storm]
Ring 1: [Ring of the Darkmender]
Ring 2: [Band of Deplorable Violence]
Trinket 1: [Reign of the Unliving]
Trinket 2: [Reign of the Unliving]
Main Hand: [Misery's End]
Off Hand: [Chalice of Searing Light]
Idol: [Idol of Lunar Fury]
That is the optimal dps you're going to have, without getting 4 full 258 tier pieces. I will likely sub out those bracers, and that weapon, for Bejeweled Wizard's Bracers and Blade of Tarasque as it's probably one of the least dps increasing upgrades for me. If I can get Nebula's Band I'll use it over Band of Deplorable Violence since it's only a few less dps.
(NOTE TO NIT PICKERS, NOT DONE, WILL EDIT AGAIN.)
Moonkin Dps
Disrupter — Tue, 03/10/2009 - 12:04
I've been pouring over parses for a while now, and this is what I found.
There are a few key things to a moonkin's dps rotation.
Q 1) Proper dot management, when do you renew the dots? When do you let them fall of completely?
A 1) For moonfire, there generally isn't a time where you'd rather let moonfire fall off and not renew it immediately afterwards. The only example that comes to mind is a boss fight you know you're going to move momentarily, within the next few seconds, and moonfire is just about to fall off. That way you can do something useful while you move.
Prime example is Grobbulus. You know he'll be moved in a moment and your dots are just about to fall off. If you dot now, you'll move and do nothing, if you dot when you move your damage will go up. That seperates a "good" caster dps from the "average", ability to think ahead on rotations.
My Results: I've been going through the parses logfiles to check how my applications on dots, particular moonfire, were doing. I'm generally within less than a global, my moonfire dot times are quite good. Checking over parses the possible # of ticks for our last patchwerk kill was about 51 and I had 48 which is excellent.
A moonkin of my gear will not renew a insect swarm in any haste buff or eclipse scenario, but they will renew moonfire. So if you get a Power Infusion, Haste Pot, Trinket Haste Proc, Eclipse proc, or even heroism... do not renew insect swarm.
Q 2) Eclipse, how do I manage eclipse.. which eclipse proc do I want?
A 2) Currently the preferred Eclipse proc is the starfire 30% critical strike chance. A lack of crit on gear/raid buffs can make getting said proc a pain but it's still in the end more dps than the wrath proc unless you have absolutely zero haste and can make full benefit of nature's grace on wrath..
My Results: I've been within 4 seconds and rarely 5 seconds on my eclipse procs it seems. (This is from when I gain eclipse, to when I land my starfire.) That's actually very good. Anything short of 4 seconds is either luck or, like myself, you watch for a natures grace proc when you're casting wrath and immediately switch to starfire. If it didn't proc, you hope your starfire didn't crit. (Next patch this will be more doable as the wrath eclipse isn't as bad as before.)
Q 3) Treants, /sigh.
A 3) /sigh.. They're a large dps increase if used properly. They recieve buffs such as battle shout(yes it ups their dps rawriors battleshout when you see those trees!) and most notable heroism. If your raid heroisms at a specific time and your pets will live the duration, summon them right before heroism directly behind the boss and you'll be good to go.
My Results: If we call heroism, my treants rape face :<. They'd kill 4-5 of our squishier raid members if I could sick them on them muahahaha.
My overall dps recently has been about 5750. What my rotation primarily is (note don't do this) is IS MF Wrath SF during eclipse/haste procs. I'll be -trying- (do this) switching to the starfire idol, and -only- casting wrath when it can proc eclipse, starfire period otherwise. Going off parses that should zoom me up past 6k. We shall see.
So tonight on Patchwerk, I'm hoping to break 6k. Warriors that aren't doing commanding please throw up a battle shout if you have the global when we heroism for treant raping goodness. And if we could count down the heroism that'd be excellent.
LF Malygos 25 Raid, PST.
Disrupter — Tue, 02/24/2009 - 01:16
I managed to out roll a 99 the other night (go me) on a Heroic Malygos Key. I'm posting this in the hopes maybe someone could point me towards a 25 Man Malygos Raid I could sneak into, snag the quest item, and sneak out without being noticed!
Doesn't necessarily need to be in guild, maybe a guildy knows of one on the weekend or something that might need a ok geared mage for a night or something.
Disrupta's in need of a Noble's deck.
Disrupter — Mon, 02/16/2009 - 23:11
I've been buying / milling / crafting / and qqing as the massive lack of nobles cards in thousands worth of herbs. After 6-7k and 3 nobles cards later I've given up on my luck and posting this to guild. I'd like the deck for PvP purposes, if I don't use it, my arena partner will but will owe me big time ;p. (Either running Resto / Ret , or Feral / Holy, preferrably the latter stronger comp.)
I currently need:
Ace of Nobles
Eight of Nobles
I also have a four of nobles I'd trade straight up for another noble, I'll pay for the cards but please don't gouge me with a 4k card or something D:. I'm not made of money XD.
Druid PvP - What would you do?
Disrupter — Tue, 02/10/2009 - 10:13
Hello everyone! I'd like a couple peoples opinions on the subject of Druid PvP. Primarily 2v2 and 3v3 for those whom are curious.
My rogue partner on my druid and I have decided that mage rogue will be a stronger comp, and we've started playing mage rogue. Now, that leaves Disrupta without any arena teams. My 2v2 partners with my mage, my 3v3 partner's quit or left the team, and my 5's team all have their noise in the air about how "bad" the system is and don't feel like playing.
Since moonkin is terrible in 2v2, if I wanted to do moonkin I'd have to find a healer and a peeler for 3's...
Resto Druid's can pair up with Hunter, Rogues, Ret Pallies, Dk's or even a Warlock.
Feral's would want a Healer, Holy Paladin , Resto Shaman or Disc Priest.
And Moonkin if properly pressured is a shitty healer the entire match and does very little more than that.
Looking at the charts and such, It shows that Feral is far ahead all the other specs in 2v2. But Feral needs pve gear to pull off well... and I can't get said pve gear without being a pve kitty dps and that's not an option.
So I'm in a dillema, my initial guess at the beginning of WOTLK was that feral was the spec to be in arena, and I was right, but my other guess was that I'd need pve gear, which is also right... I could do decently as feral with a good healer with just pvp gear but the primary thing about feral is it do enough burst/pressure.
They're also nerfing resto druids, by nerfing their out of combat regen - and - their innervate mana returns. As resto I'd have a very hard time drinking due to a risk of them switching to my partner and gibbing him even with hots up. And they're giving ferals more survivability so more pve gear is usable, a shield in bear form omnomnom.
So that's my situation, if you were in my shoes and wanted to hit max ratings, what would you do. And if you say reroll a paladin, you'd probably be right, but that's not what I want to do ;p.
