Gamepro calls this "The perfect shooter" that is if by perfect shooter they mean most effective at being terrible. The more and more I have thought about this game and the closer I got to actually writing this review the more I thought about how terribly, terribly bad it was. I will start by saying this is coded on the Unreal engine, which is an FPS engine, this is an FPS/third person game. What is so bad about that? Well let's just say then when your character switches into third person view states, the enemy can see you but you can't see them. This equates to broken controllers and abusive language that makes the angry Nintendo nerd look meek and mild.
I went in with a very positive attitude, I loved rainbow six for PC and loved raven shield to death, in fact I still do, none the less I came out swinging….at my TV that is. The game overall has a good concept and a great Tom Clancy styled plot, which is why this game is withholding a 4 for a rating from me, but the execution of a brilliant idea was unveiled by the lazy designers who thought this was a great way to convey it. Now I have yet to play Vegas 1 but people say it's the same thing so I'm not excited to downgrade to a game that probably deserves a 2.
The graphics are decent considering you never see the washed over gloss feel to the characters you tend to see in the new Unreal engine games, which is more points for them. This game however has some pretty mean issues when it comes to clipping, hands through guns and all sorts of nonsense, which leads me to ask- did graphical artists work on this game? or their children? Either way it's not something I'd hang on my refrigerator.
Sound quality is nice, the music is decent, and it's not repetitive so I'll give them that. It adds a lot of feel to the game when combat music changes or adds different feel to the game based on what you're encountering at the time. Good cinematography Ubisoft maybe you should go make a movie about it.
Game play is weak and controls can be bothersome at times but for the most part they work great together. Let me however say that the final boss fight is a joke. I don't have to spoil anything by saying that a person shouldn't be able to chuck a grenade through a regular fence in an ultra realistic deemed game, cause I definitely know that no one in their right mind could do it in real life, at least out of skill or consistently. I spent more time cussing in this fight than i have in my entire life span it was horrid ask my roomate how much i hated this fight on the hardest difficulty, and trust me i understand hard but i don't cope with BS well. The AI is decent, when it's not shooting at you through walls of course, it will try to flank and all that so that's good.
Multiplayer is ok it plays better than single because players can't see stuff while the computer normally could which makes it seemingly fair and balanced, and the maps are some of the old raven shield maps, finally someone got it right.
The game overall just feels like I'm cheating on my Xbox 360 console or that I'm defiling it, poor girl. On another note where did all the customization go? Seriously? I want my m14 back, oh yeah and an inventory slot to use for extra mags please. On a second thought don't give them to me cause I'm never picking up a title like this again and neither should you. Do yourselves a favor and read the book about the plot and save the game disk for a coaster.
I rate this game a 4/10

Over 20 reasons to game in the next 2 years

Now I know not a lot of you guys REALLY know me, trust my opinions, understand my motives, or know why I'm (i ad grammarz and punkjooation too make g happy) a total asshole BUT we are all here under a common guise. A guise where pixels and polygons dazzle our optic nerves, walls of text tickling our proverbial taste buds, and PEWPEW lazer beams making our cochlea drool. now this is where I come in, my gaming ideal is faily strong, I've been playing since King's Quest and Thexdor's Quest on the old tandy PC, i remember prodigy online in the late 80's. Now the reason I'm on here typing this blarg or blerg or what ever you call it's, is because the next two years, Much like 2007, will be AMAZING in terms of high quality titles. These aren't in any order or anything but here is what i've seen so far.
Tony Hawk: Ride - Now im not really a fan of "Sports" titles but let me tell you what ISN'T fucking awesome about standing ona piece of plastic and it tracking what you're doing and implementing it in game real time. Before you start i know i know playstations eye toy and all that but no this is diff... sure we're going to see a blast in economical bullshit from xbox with peripherals, but think about it, think about what that opens up in the market for fake firearms for pew pewing in call of duty or gears of fucking retarded. either way the game is going to be just as awesome as most of his games except now u get to ride that shit straight into HELL.
CoD Mod. Warfare 2- Let's just face it......... its CoD, the online was revolutionary and gave people exactly what they wanted and what your puny little human brains require, constant reward. you got mini achievements weapons xp all sorts of stuff just for simply killing people which got you more stuff to kill people better......easy choice.
Bioshock 2 - Let me just say it will rape face compared to bioshock one and I KNOW I KNOW I KNOW "but the ending was garbage" I agree with you. The story however, im sure everyone will agre, was unlike any we've seen before no one saw it coming we may have had ideas about this and that here and there but it will always make you think diff about the phrase "would you kindly " so now you get to play as a big daddy in the events leading up to the downfall of our lost city. either way expect to see new amazing plasmids and our ever popular female "big sisters", along with a "hopeful" story this should make another 10/10 title.
C+C 4 - The end all be all of RTS back for another round. I have never been let down from C+C save generals and zero hour when they got bought out by that which is most evil, EA. either way we're seeing a possible end to a very long endeavor. NOD is coming to join with GDI to eradicate the common enemy....tiberium yea thats right inanimate object..... or is it? either way still gonna be a sweet game, any game that DOESN'T allow you to use cheats gets an A+ in my book.
Starcraft 2: Now I will say this ..... blizz... WTF are you splitting it into 3 games...... besides money, WHY.... WHY!!!!!!????????? other than that COME ON its fucking starcraft man the campaigns are gonna be sweet and the engine will run a little smoother than the last go around, the physics changes for allowances of crossing gaps will be much nicer, plus all the unit types that brings into the game, personally I always hated multiplayer I like fortifying my base and watching zergling waves get squashed beneath my might.... so single player is the realm for me but this game will undoubtedly bring blizzard into a cataclysmic chain reaction from game to game between the next 2 years which brings me to.......
Diablo III: Wow.... just wow over 10 years later they tell us we get our title finally. over 3 years ago info got leaked about the original composer from D2 was working on more diablo style music in italy and it finally got confirmed and here we have some classes and some great gameplay footage. The game will be paramount to growth in everything we've seen thus far in it's action dungeon crawler genre... hopefully it will be a little more meaty in the plot development than the last 2 instead of just the "hack and slash" chase a guy down kind of feel. I think blizz has come a long way since then so we shall see.
WoW Cataclysm: Now first off let me say I'm excited for this expansion, and I'll get to why. Now let me boggles your brains for a second. Let me ask you this, WoW classic was a product from the rise in MMO products and merely a tribute to Warcraft 1-3, BC was a trip into the unknown as we followed the line of the orcs into azeroth starting to scrape the iceburg on plot post WC3, but we couldnt be prepared for WoTLK when Arthas came forth and now we have our current predicament of overthrowing ner' zhul ( or however you spell it), Frostmourne, and Dualy arthas, so what i may ask really did the change in all these games, nothing but content and some added features, a few game mechanics and some spell detail and sprites. BUTTTTTTT, in cataclysm .... is the change. They have already stated that grom takes over and declares full on war.... war... as in the last great war was in WC3 so where did i put my copy of WC4? oh right its right here in this Cataclysm box. I'm not saying there won't ever be a WC4 bust rest assured it won't have guild talents, a level 85 cap, new battlegrounds, revamped explorable worlds from the previous titles in the series, new content, or G......well maybe..... but you won't be in his party or running 25's anytime soon. So let's face it rather blizz is pushing in the direction of making wow the offspring of an RTS/Action game or they ahve some "cereal" tricks up their sleeves.
you guys can guess what's next
i'll add more later im tiured
