A question for Kognus, Dragon or HBK (maybe vulk too)

I'm currently nearing the point where I will be training SoB on my traitor pally and I was wondering; if I am judging crusader (like I assume I should be during a regular instance run) and the healing pally/prot pally judges light, is the proc on healing enough to negate the dmg I do to myself? kind of wondering and you all would know.

Yup light is one of the
Vulk — Wed, 03/26/2008 - 15:42Yup light is one of the last judgments you sohuld ask for, the last meing putting JoJ on a boss (lol)

Btw, yes your will find that
Dragonspear — Wed, 03/26/2008 - 15:04Btw, yes your will find that it prolly does heal you. HOWEVER, don't ask for light. In fact, at least in 5 mans, get used to begging for a Shadowpriest. One of the best thigns about Seal of Emo is the fact that you DO take damage. JoL heals however do not regen mana as well unlike VE.
JotC>JoW>JoL in that order :D

SoB does scale with AP. By
Vulk — Wed, 03/26/2008 - 13:53SoB does scale with AP. By "normal weapon damage" it means the damage you would do if it was unmitigated by armor (aka the tool tip damage in the character screen)
IE: I just did some quick testing and with 3x vengeance up my wep damage ranges from 843-1069 damage according to the tooltip with roughly 1.2k AP (yes I'm in noob gear, I hit 70 2 days ago :P). While on the mobs outside of shat I actually hit for 650ish. Yet my SoB hits for roughly 350 to 400 ish. These numbers may not actually add up to what the math says but its a limited sample size (only killed 1 Teromoth)
Mmm, Seal of Emo FTW!

I have maths and am slightly
Desteran — Wed, 03/26/2008 - 13:22I have maths and am slightly bored at work.. JoL has a 40% proc and heals for 95 on proc (and I believe it does not scale with +healing). So in ten swings you can expect it to proc 4 times. Using a 3.5 speed weapon that is 4 times in 35 seconds. So you will get healed for 380 in 35 seconds for 10.85 healing/second.
Seal of blood scales with normal (I am assuming that means AP doesn't come into play) weapon damage so this is a little more difficult but ill use Crystalforged War Axe as an example. Damage range here is 253 to 280 for an average of 266.5. Seal of blood does 35% weapon dmg each swing for 93.26. So it does 93.26 every hit and you take 10% of that damage so 9.326 damage (Im not rounding). Divided by weapon speed that is 9.326/3.5 = 2.66 damage / second.
Judging the seal does 295-325 damage for an average of 310. You take 33% of that so 102.3. Judging every 8 seconds that is 102.3/8 = 12.79 damage / second.
So 2.66+ 12.29 = 14.95 damage per second your doing to yourself while only taking in 10.85 healing. Not to mention, the seal scales with wep dmg while SoL does not scale....That was fun!
When you first train SoB
Vulk — Wed, 03/26/2008 - 13:06When you first train SoB yeah it will but when you hit 70 and start gearing up SoB will start to hit harder and it probably wont heal it. 1k SoB proc crits hit you for 100 damage and 1k SoB judgment crits hit you for 330+ damage. In an instance however the great thing about SoB is 1: It does more overall damage than SoC. and 2: When the damage it does to you gets healed by your healer you get mana :) BTW i dub myself the Original Traitor since I had my BE pally first :P
