I think you'll really like it once you get all the way used to it Lepp, the added flexibility and the need for a little more awareness made raiding alot more fun for me.

 Last night was really frustrating.  Azgalor should have died our first attempt.  First, you have got to pay attention.  I go over every boss before we pull, BUT it is up to you to know the strats yourself.  A person going coming into raid not knowing the strat is just as bad as not bringing a flask, food, oil, etc.  Being prepared is to know your boss fights. 

I'm still seeing low numbers out of a lot of raiders.  Shinso, how are Dufe and Lepp leaving you in the dust?  Is the spec difference the problem?  Coryni, you specced destro.  The numbers are about the same as when you were affliction.  How can you improve your dps?  Youshouldrun, fire spec isn't, or whatever, isn't for Hyjal.  Go shadow bolt spam.  You could have been higher.  Looking at the DPS time. It seems that some of you guys are not casting as much as you should be.  How are your connections?  Do you play on a laptop?  Do you use a mouse?  Are you clicking or pressing a key?  These are important questions.  I need the best out of everyone.  That means make sure you provide yourself with best playing conditions at home as well.  Think about it.

Respecs help but they don't happen overnight. My dmg did improve. It did go up three dps lvls on boss kill, which was my weakest area.

My plan:
1)Get subtlety on my cloak. Sounds odd but I have never had it before. I found myself hitting lvls of threat that I'm not yet comfortable pushing b/c I have really been here before.

2) Farm a new trinket: shiffar's nexus-horn out of arch. It is the best out of raid trinket I will be able to get my hands on that I don't already have. It is also better suited to my new spec. Note to guild: I NEED ARCH runs plan on me asking! :)

3) Run heroics and get Cory into some of that kara action Bredwilly is creating. I have my sights set on the enslaved doomguard soulgrips. 75 badges. I would have never considered them before but this new spec requires new gear.

Diverge a minute if I may...
I may have respeced a little prematurely. Both Watches and Dikymo told me in order to make this respec truly helpful I need (and these are are all "at least" values):

a) 1300 +SD dmg >> met. I'm sitting at about 1397 self buffed

b) 170 +hit the closer to cap (202) the better>> met 190 +hit

and questionably the most important

c) 20% spell crit chance>> 17.55% close...not really

"c" is where my gear/respec really fall apart. Destro really rides on crit chance. I likely shouldn't have respeced last night. I crafted boots of blasting and spellstrike pants bringing my crit from 11.62% to the 17.55% you saw in raid. Not truly enough but I respeced anyway to show that I was making changes and trying hard.

Because of this the last thing I would add to my list of planned attack:
4) pull the veiled noble topaz out of my gear (+4hit,+5dmg) and replace with potent noble topaz (+4spell crit, +5dmg). I'm reluctant to do this because I know (b/c I would be switching out three gems) that I would be loosing 12 +hit and only gain .5% crit chance bringing me to 18.1%.

In part my dps did improve but it isn't done improving. Aside from the changes I have listed above I need practice with my new spec. I have rewritten my macros and rearranged all my hot keys to better suite my new spec- Dr doom here I come! Also, for the last 2-3mo I have not planned to go destro so I was not pushing my rolls on destro gear. Be this friendly warning to ya Watches you have competition now :)

Basic rule of dps:

Ride the line on your tank's aggro without going over.

If that fails, ride the line, dump aggro (soul shatter, invis, feign death, vanish, et al), then try to ride the line again.

You probably have an aggro indicator that goes off when you hit the 90% mark - Banzai or some such.  When it does its big screen effect, it only means you're at 90% of the main tank's threat - you've still got 40% to go to actually PULL aggro.

Exactly.  Now, MELEE will pull aggro at 110% (edit: it's 110% NOT 100%), but casters get a wonderful reprieve and only pull at 130%.  So, most of these alerts that pop up and yell at you are assuming you are a melee class, when in fact they may be seriously gimping our casters accidentally.

Hell, crank that alert up to 125% percent.  Seriously. Don't even hold back until you hit 125%, soul shatter and get back up to 125% as hard as you can.
