Fury warriors
TK28 — Tue, 04/08/2008 - 08:45
This past weekend I specced fury for the first time in six months. A few pointers and gear suggestions I use and did quite well with.
Dueld wield: go for Slow mainhand, and a slow offhand.
Crit chance: I have 30% currently, with 2 mongooses and a feral I have more then enough crit for fury.
Hit rating: You NEVER want more then 200 hit rating, anything more is nerfing the fuck out of your stats elsewhere.
Expertise: I'm kinda lucky on this I am a human using a sword and mace so I get 10 expertise from that alone and I picked up the MgT heroic expertise trinket putting me at a nice 16rating.
Attack Power: My attack power is extremely high it will be 1900 unbuffed when I buy the new badge weps.
The reason I say use slow, slow on weapons is because a 2.7 speed wep with 25% flurry buff drops you to about 2.1 speed and a Whirlwind and instant attacks warriors have makes using slow slow godly.
this is the spec I suggest for pure raid dps http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/warrior/talents.html?350200113020000000000000505000550501205311510000000000000000000000
Notice tho it doesnt have imp Demo shout which in many raid situations they will make you respec imp demo.
The one thing I find many people don't focus on is there buffs. For a fury warrior we have a moderate spell time battleshout >2mins and Rampage which only lasts 30secs, Your key will be timing Ramapage so that you dont overcast on it and you don't let it fall off it can be very tricky try to target for 3-7secs, or anytime before that if your on a dry crit streak.
Despite many peoples beliefs on Heroic Strike we have some amazing tanks in guild so using Heroic Strike often when rage allows is quite a nice boost in DPS.
As for buffs for a fury warrior you have your flasks (relentless assault), pots such as health(cant dps when dead) and 400 haste rating pots. Also there are strength scrolls and food you can use both. Sharpening stones for MH and OF only OF when WF totem is around.
The DPS rotation for Fury should be Rampage always has priority if it's about to fall off, then Bloodthirst,Whirlwind, and use Heroic strike as often as you can( if rage and threat allows).

Well I haven't really looked
saedo — Wed, 05/28/2008 - 12:27Well I haven't really looked at the Warrior one yet. I use the Rogue ones at EJ. But, yea, basically you can input your gear, your spec, your buffs, and it spits out numbers. What's different from MaxDPS is that it should be doing statictical modelling on your stats, procs, and other various interactions and gives you your theoretical dps. And possibly, rogue ones at least, give you the most optimal cycles to use your attacks. And probably recommended gear upgrades. Of course, this is all theory simplified to a tank and spank fight where you get 100% dps time. Real fights might not work out to be like that, but this is a good backbone to start with.
I've yet to use it Saedo,
Delirium — Wed, 05/28/2008 - 12:18I've yet to use it Saedo, never used one actually. Not too keen on how they work... I'm assuming it let's you dress a paper doll and gives you stats based on buffs/raid conditions. I don't know though.
Is the warrior spreadsheet
saedo — Wed, 05/28/2008 - 09:59Is the warrior spreadsheet any good?

After picking up the T6 dps
TK28 — Wed, 05/28/2008 - 07:48After picking up the T6 dps helm I have 2000atk pwr, and 819 armor pen I'm starting to think the better option would be to take more armor pen gear such as the neck from MH trash [Choker of Serrated Blades] since it has 175 it put me at 994 armor pen.
My comment on Reck/DW was in
Delirium — Wed, 05/28/2008 - 00:44My comment on Reck/DW was in reference to Dragon, and I'm sure he played his war before the changes were made. I never have been a fan of the HS spam, burns way too much rage and generates too much threat for it to be worthwhile for anything other than a rage dump. Being Slow/Slow MH OH I never have an issue with rage, other than having too much from time to time.
The only thing I'm envious of with you guys is the haste/armor pen. I never really had much access to either since I'm Eng so the BS maces are out, and I'm too poor for Executioner lol. Oh, and I took the break when we were starting on BT... :( Some of my gear is pretty bad considering what I'm contending with, since you guys have been raiding hardcore. I hope to be able to catch up eventually somehow. I love playing Fury DW! :)
I probably should sacrifice the hit in favor of str but I'm afraid of nerfing my dps! lol The hit cap on OH I believe is 23-25%? Which I'm not really concerned with hitting cap, just don't want to gimp it too much. I suppose I'm just stubborn when it comes to that. Which it hasn't really hurt me too much, when I was raiding I don't think I was ever really slack in the DPS department. Just when it came to paying attention and getting out of the WW's. :P
A good rule of thumb is to
Kybosh — Tue, 05/27/2008 - 22:39A good rule of thumb is to use Heroic Strike any time you're above 50 rage. It's not a hard and fast rule, but a good one to go by when determining whether or not to use it.
Using a fast off-hand will yield more constant rage generation. Making it nice if you like to spam heroic strike. I personally prefer to have both my weapons be the same speed, that way you can double up on Flurry procs. Most number crunchers will tell you that the dps difference between having a slow or fast off-hand is minimal.
The Deathwish/Recklessness combo doesn't apply anymore since most 17/44 Fury warriors can't get Deathwish.
Haste if very beneficial to a fury warrior. If you can get away with it, I suggest chain-chugging Haste pots during a boss encounter, but be careful stacking Haste gear. Most pre-sunwell gear with haste on it is not worth getting.
A word about armor penetration. It can be one of the best stats to have on an item...if you already have a lot of it. Armor penetration get significantly better the more of it you have. Going from 1000-1200 Arp will net you a greater dps increase than going from 600-800.
Here are some guidelines on what to aim for regarding stats:
Strength: As much as possible
Crit: As much as possible
Haste: As much as possible(If you're Fury, 2H is more complicated)
Armor Penetration: As much as possible.
Hit: Get above 142
Don't stack AP. Stack Str
Magic — Tue, 05/27/2008 - 08:30Don't stack AP. Stack Str which will convert to more AP. Oftentimes if threat is well-established you can throw in a few heroic strikes to offset waiting for that WW CD. I also try not to pop WW and Bthirst at the same time, and instead watch thier cooldown and pop each at about half the other. This usually gives time to refresh Shouts, the other AP buff, toss in a Heroic strike or cleave here and there.
That's my experience with the dual-weild, not sure how the 2H works.
It's been a while since I
TK28 — Tue, 05/27/2008 - 08:12It's been a while since I made this thread Stats Currently are:
1951 atk pwr unbuffed, 30% to crit, 202 hit rating, 44haste rating, 714 armor pen, 11expertise rating.
The one thing I hate the most is many times I'm just sitting around waiting for Whirlwind and Bloodthirst to come off cooldown.
Alot of people also never consider that while you may have anywhere from 30-40% to crit that means 70 to 60% of your attacks won't be crits so why not make everything hit harder by stacking attack power.
I'm currently at 1860
Delirium — Tue, 05/27/2008 - 04:52I'm currently at 1860 something (maybe?) AP, 32% crit and 17% to hit which is like 265 or 275, all unbuffed. I've read the EJ forums and most of the math goes way over my head, it's very rare that someone who actually knows what they're talking about can actually put it into simple terms for me. I go Slow/Slow speeds and I'm pretty happy with it. Most of what I've done with Del has been through experimentation since I'm not so great with the math. :P Once I can get Del back into some sort of action, I want to try dropping 20-30 hit in favor of Str just to test it out.
It's been a while since I've raided 25 but from what I remember on most melee friendly encounters I usually ranked top 5. Usually right under Shin, Sight and Turth.
As far as popping Reck/DW at 19%... it wasn't usually the greatest idea. I would pull aggro quite often and get squished on any boss I had a presence of 85% or more on. I usually found it best to wait till 15-10% to pop Reck and then the boss would die RIGHT before I pull aggro on it. Have to watch Omen very closely that last 10% of hp. :P Yeah, once you get into execute range that should be the primary move you're using (Aside from keeping shouts/debuffs up obviously).
Pk, if you don't have it already. Pick up RampageBar, I think it's on Curse. It's a helpful reminder for BS/CS or Rampage since you can size it and put it anywhere you need. I've used a couple of shout bars and it's the best/easiest one to use.
My rotation (depending on the encounter because of CC) would usually go--> BS > Rampage > Bloodthirst > WW. Only using HS when I had like 60-70% rage and I could waste a little on a HS.
Like I said though, it's been like 3+ months since I've had any real 25 man raid time. I can't wait to get back into it! :P
When I was fury on my
Dragonspear — Tue, 04/08/2008 - 09:24When I was fury on my warrior. If i popped reck and deathwish, once the boss dropped below 20% I was normally able to execute at every GCD until it wore off, until i died, or until the boss died.
~Legendary Nobody
Also not mention but
TK28 — Tue, 04/08/2008 - 08:48Also not mention but situational if you have your 30min Cooldown up use it at 19% health on a boss make sure your threat is low, because you can easily jump and spike to massive amounts of threat, While in GG mode spam Execute don't get stupid looking for the big crits 10Executes does about twice as much damage as 1 execute at full rage.
Slow Slow is only really
Drewsta — Tue, 04/08/2008 - 08:48Slow Slow is only really worth it once above 29.75% unbuffed crit and at least 180 hit rating. I use slow off because at least 45% of your dmg will be from White dmg, faster you swing with OH more rage you can collect pending your crit status.
