who here is looking forward to it, has it preordered and wants to play? I was in the beta and ended up buying the collectors edition preorder style so i will be hitting it up the 17th. I wanted to shout out and coordinate servers and things so all of us dfers could play togeather if they wanted. I know some of you are looking forward to it so shout out and lets hear some feedback.

Derchlon — Wed, 05/14/2008 - 23:06From my experience with Demos/Betas: Yes, its not the final game, but it gives you a VERY good idea of how the game will play.
Sonic the Hedgehog (360): Demo sucked, Devs said "no worries! its not finished yet." Final product: Crap.
CoD4 Beta: Great Beta, and fun to play. Final product: Great game, and fun to play.
Halo 3 Beta: Pretty fun, didn't feel like much of an upgrade from Halo 2 besides graphics. Final product: Pretty fun, had more weapons/maps available, but still not a huge upgrade from Halo 2.
Eragon Demo: So bad they pulled it from the online market place. Final product: Absolute garbage.
Lost Planet: Really great demo, hardly heard a bad word about it. Final Product: A very well done, very good game.

As you can see, it is pretty clear what the final game will be like from Demos/Betas, and these are just a few from my personal experience. Every now and then there MIGHT be one that is an exception, but thats exactly what it is; an exception.

From what I've seen it is complete shit. Please hit me up if beta is still going and show me what I'm missing. The log in screen is cool though, and nice music. That is all I can say.

Frollo — Wed, 05/14/2008 - 09:42from the beta you are somewhat correct in what you have heard shi, however i beta tested wow as well and it wasn't that smooth either. the best launch for a beta i have ever been in was dark age of camelot. combat from mounts in aoc is refreshing, city building is nice and somewhat new, the combat is more action packed then most mmo's which is nice. class balance is something that is an always on going process, as is shown still to this day in wow. do i think aoc is ready fo release? not really i think they need to go back and iron some things out, but i havn't had hardly any issues in the open beta, tech test was laggy and crazy (but it was supposed to be they forced that and server load to squeeze out bugs). graphics are cool, boobies are always the win. in the end it is something that is changing mmos which is always nice.

1) Class balance is terrible
2) Multiple game and system crash problems
3) High-end machines have problems with maintaining smooth framerates
WoW set a high precedent when it comes to game "completeness" on release. Everything I've heard about AoC so far implies that it's not going to be a smooth release, which is invariably going to shoot it in the foot.
I won't say WoW is the "best game ever made omgz!" but I will say it's arguably the best MMO on the market, including everything I've seen coming.
