Got new Video Card, need computer smart people in this forum plx ^^.

Okie doke, my power supply and mobo decided, yesterday was the day to fry themselves.
Due to a long chain of events, I ended up with a Mobo not compatable with my video card....
So I ended up upgraded from a 7600 geforce, to a 8600 geforce... I believe it was from pci to agp (honestly, I'm not 100% sure since my computer savvy parent isn't awake atm.)
We ran into a problem, everything seems to work fine and in order, EXCEPT, when I attempt to load the computer with TWO video inputs.... it starts to load up, then kind of, blank screens the rest of the way. It sounds like it's still loading up, but, no video.
Does anyone have any idea what this could be? We were able to get the dual view to work once, but that required us to set it up while the computer was still on.... and... would require me to reset it up every restart to use it.........
I'll try to give more info tomorrow, hoping for some ideas when I return. Thanks a bunch.

I work for Dell fixing
Moonaura — Thu, 06/05/2008 - 14:09I work for Dell fixing computers and dual monitors is one of the frequent problems people have.
The issue is usually related to the driver or a windows display configuration, the BIOS may have settings that effect your configuration but it is rarely the problem.
1. Update your video driver and the motherboard chipset. (your motherboard manufactuer will have the driver on their site if you have a custom computer.
2. Right click your desktop>displaysettings>check enable dual monitors> click the 1 box set your settings, click the 2 box set the desired settings, click ok. This eliminates Windows Settings.
2. Go into your video driver utility (after updating it), choose the settings for dual monitors, hit apply then ok.
If these don't work you can pm me in game and i can walk you through it over vent, as i have fixed this about 3 times in the last week with customers at work.
Yes. It sounds like
Pedran — Tue, 06/03/2008 - 06:17Yes. It sounds like Windows is accepting the Dual-Monitor Setup, but either your Video-card drivers or your motherboard is not. I would double-check your BIOS to make sure there isn't some 'support firmware' in there messing up your ability to have dual-monitors functioning in tandem.
If that doesn't work, I would attempt to tweak the drivers using the software that came with the video card. Finally, windowsupdate.com can be useful every once in a while (don't d/l service pack 3. ever)
If neither of those options work, you will need to escalate your service repair issue to the next Tier, please submit a service request to Carno with name, phone number, date of birth, CC#, video card specs, SS#, bank acct#, blood test, urine test, fatty-tissue count, daily calorie intake chart, mother board specs, mother's maiden name, monitor specs, biological father's last name, valid driver's liscense, valid passport, and a case of small unmarked bills.
hehe (I would just pick the few of those that seem the most appropriate for the issue at hand......)
I've got a little bit more
Disrupter — Tue, 06/03/2008 - 13:04I've got a little bit more info, done a little testing.
The second monitor is actually a 52 inch hd tv, and when it's connected and I boot up, it does a flashing underline _ on the bottom left, and then some random letters in the bottom right, then, the screen goes blank.
The whole point of my computer is for my work, which is why we got this large TV for it. Now, it doesn't work, and I'm stuck with this tiny ass monitor trying to do things and it's just not panning out.
We've GOTTEN it to work, but the problem is it STOPS work upon a restart, and does the same blank screen again. We've tried the resolution, my father did something with the Bio's but apparently ran into difficulties, and since he can't seem to get into the Bios for some reason I'm kinda screwed lol. I don't know what to do... I wish I had more computer smarts so I could fix this shit myself.
My father is convinced it's the motherboard being uncompatable with the video card or something? My wow and games seem to run perfectly smooth, I just can't seem to get my HD monitor to work.
WHen you say duel Video out
Gingerbeer — Tue, 06/03/2008 - 03:11WHen you say duel Video out you mean as in Duel Box? I assume. Well first use just one out and reinstall the drivers for your new card. Try that, if that doesnt work im not sure, the whole duel boxing thing isnt my forte.
P.S.- THEY MAKE 8600 AGPs?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
I think he means dual
Grasen — Tue, 06/03/2008 - 05:28I think he means dual moniter setup.
