GUILD MEET-UP!
Where:
Good Neighbor Pizzaria. 800 NE Dekum St., Portland, OreGONE
When:
Saturday, July 12 @ 6pm - 11:30pm or until Garreth takes his clothes off and dances on the bar.
What:
Hanging out and getting to finally say "OHAI!" IRL. This is a pretty cool pizza joint and bar with live music and a very "Portland" atmosphere. Bring your ID and let's finally meet the people we've spent four hours a day with the last three years.

In other news: Kybosh and I will moving over the next few weeks, but should be completely settled by the weekend of the social. We should have a couch/airbed/floor for those that may need it. Our house is blocks away from a stop off the lightrail, which is accessible via both the Portland Airport (actually ends AT the airport) and the Amtrak.
To answer an earlier question, public transit in Portland is fantastic, so I wouldn't use a taxi for things like getting from an airport into downtown. When Ky and I would take a taxi to get home from drinking across town it would usually run us about $25-30. That's a luxury we don't partake in too often cause we think it's pretty expensive, but it's probably a lot more affordable than other big cities. I personally would recommend a car, but do NOT rent it from the airport...the rates are waaaay worse. Try the Enterprise on E. Burnside (near Martin Luther King Blvd); we've rented from them on the fly a few times and have gotten a car for almost $10/day for a weekend.

Amtrak tickets from Seattle
Submitted by Amenn on Mon, 06/23/2008 - 18:18.Amtrak tickets from Seattle to Portland are 56$ round trip (or were last week, when I booked mine). Unless you've got a major carpool going, that's cheaper than gas, and you don't have to drive.
Also, if there's a couch shortage, we might split a hotel room. Like I said, I'm prepared to pay for one if need be. Alternately, I'm prepared to bribe the owner of the couch I sleep on with the most delicious beer known to mankind:

Epat and I will roadtrip down either Friday night or Saturday, and I think we're planning to stay at least Saturday night (Friday night too if we come earlier, obviously). LFCouch/cuddle buddy with a bed/barroom floor is in effect, but I have an alternative idea if real estate is scarce: Anyone have a back yard I can set up shop in? It's going to be sunny and high-70's so I'm totally cool with bringing my tent and roughing it for the weekend :)
