Lag and latency are the same
garreth — Tue, 06/24/2008 - 08:32Lag and latency are the same thing. They are not affected by addons. They are affected by your internet connection.
Frame rate (frames per second, or FPS) is affected by addons (the number and relative resource usage of each being a factor). With the addons above, I'm sitting a comfortable 30fps with all settings maxed on a dual core/7800gt system.
So, one more time: Lag = internet (out of your control for the most part), FPS = addons (less = better on a shitty system).

If your PC is too busy running the game to process a packet, it will add to the latency experienced. IE, why my system gets 200ms latency on the same connection yours gets 300ms on. :P

Aidin — Tue, 06/24/2008 - 05:39Top right corner suggestion: Switch Quest Helper and Incubator. Quest helper has that little rectangle that appears when you mouse over it to hide and reveal your quest objectives. I hide them on Aidin when in raid. Oh but then Incubator and Cooldown Monitor may over lap...oh well...I'm not much help am I. lol
