Raiding

What talent build do you use to raid?:

I haven't gotten to end-game content yet, and until yesterday hadn't looked at the raid strategies for talent builds, but it seems that my instincts are good, because the talents I have chosen are within 10 points of one of the raid builds for holy priests recommended in the forums at elitistjerks (http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=bxT0zhxzbZfhtcc0qVuc). I intend to put the rest of my talent points into the holy tree in roughly the same way as the build recomends, with some tweaks so that I can continue to effectively solo. I have no problem with respeccing as needed, and though I prefer healing, I wouldn't mind a dps role either. Now that I've hit 70 I've specced CoH. Its definately gonna take some getting used to and my grind just got a bit more tedious, but it shouldn't take me that long to figure out what works best for me with the new spec.

Healing

Tell us a little about how your class contributes to a raid.:

Heals, enough said. Well, no, not really, but it is pretty simple for a priest specced the way I am; I keep people alive. If I am assigned to be a tank healer I am making sure that the guy soaking up the hits for everyone else doesn't go down, and if I am a secondary healer, I am keeping the dps classes alive so that they can kill whatever we are taking on before it wears down the tank/tank healers.

Would it be a problem if you had to wait 3 weeks or 3 months to get into raid?:

Not at all, it is going to take me some time to get to 70, then it will take me some time to get geared to be able to raid, and if I don't have a slot after that is taken care of, I have other toons. I am in the army, so I know all about seniority, and "hurry up and wait" is second nature to me now. Now that I have hit 70 I would really like to get into some groups with some of you so that you might be able to see how I do, and you might be able to give some pointers to tighten up my healing.

List the instances you have experience in, and the farthest you have been in that instance.:

I haven't yet experienced end game content, but I prefer grinding inside rather than outside, so I am quite experienced at all of the lower level instances, from VC to BRD. Now I have experienced instances up to Setthek Halls, and will be trying my hand at everything else shortly.

What is your favorite 25-man BC Boss encounter, and why?:

See above. I still don't have a favorite 25-man boss encounter yet but I would have to say that my favorite boss to date is King Ikiss, because he is the boss I am cutting my teeth on as a CoH specced priest. He is a tough boss that is exceedingly challenging to heal for, with some brutal AoE hits, and other special abilities.

What is your least favorite 25-man BC Boss encounter, and why?:

General Questions

List your pertinent alts, as well as their classes and levels:

All of my alts on this server are below 20, and the only one of them that I would care to guild would be my bank toon as he is the only one I spend any time on other than my main right now. Though I would definately prefer to have him guilded, because I prefer to be connected to guildchat as much as possible to keep up with news and group events. Mulenoid: Human Warrior Level 1 I am burning up a warlock for farming so that I can spec my priest strictly for raid/instance healing, because grinding as a raid priest is gruesome. So, I would like to bring Devilnoid in as well.

Is this app for your main alone, or would you like to bring alts over as well?:

Why should we recruit you?:

You can never have too many healers. I realize that I do not bring alot of experience to the table, but I do bring maturity, a good attitude, and a willingness to learn. Raid techniques and tactics can be taught, but most assholes are assholes for life.

Why have you chosen to apply to Downfall?:

I have been leveling with several real life friends of mine (who will likely be turning apps in shortly as well; Bluetouguyss and Tongpao), and we have burned these toons up fairly quickly, but we realized that if we wanted to experience the end game content we were going to need to get connected with a well established guild. That being the case, I asked Torvo if he would recommend a guild to us, and he recommended Downfall.

What do you expect to get out of Downfall membership?:

I hope to soak up the experience of established raiders, have a better shot at getting groups that won't fall apart at the drop of a hat, and camaraderie with a good group of people.

How do you feel you will contribute to the downfall community?:

I am always down to help out with questing/instances. I am also a trade skill fiend with my main as a Tailor/Skinner, and plans to grind up Leatherworking and Jewelcrafting alts. With regards to my "fiendish tradeskilling", I have maxed out my skinning, have my tailoring at 355 (mooncloth specailist), my cooking is nearly maxed, and my fishing is just above 300. So I will be able to provide the best food to those who need it, and will eventually grind out a bunch of primal mooncloth bags.

Do you have any references in Downfall?:

Torvo, and TheLunchbox are fraternity brothers of mine, and I know Darisul from WSU as well.

How long do you intend to stay in Downfall?:

Until it no longer exists.

What things might cause you to leave?:

It would take quite a screw-job to do that as I am not particularly prone to fits of hysterics. I try to live a drama-free lifestyle (which can be interesting when you are a theatre major).

I don't know how anyone could let themselves burn out, thats what caffeine is for. Full Throttle for the win. Give me a shot, give me some pointers, and I will become a solid asset for this guild.

I am not sure what exactly my school schedule is going to be like this coming fall, so I cannot say with any certainty how often I will be able to raid. My school schedule isn't much of a problem, but I am still working as well; nights during the week and mornings on the weekend, so it looks like the weekend is my raid time.

What might the typical reasons for missing raid be?:

Rehearsals and performances, which unfortunately tend to be in the evenings. If I had to guess, I would say that I would be able to raid once or twice a week once school gets started, though if my schedule ends up permitting it, I would definately be down for more.

Mods are a beautiful thing. I currently use auctioneer, recipebook, omen, recount, gatherer, and several others. I don't yet have any raid-specific addons, but you folks have a raid pack posted on your main page so I figured I would start there.

I switched to WoW from EQ2 in 2006 right after I got back from Afghanistan. I have toons scattered across a half-dozen servers, couple 40s and 50s, and a raft-load of lower toons, horde and alliance.

I am a helicopter mechanic in the Washington State Army National Guard. I was deployed to Afghanistan for a year. Not married, don't have any kids. I've only been doing Capoeira at WSU for 5ish months now, but I took some classes after highschool at Evergreen State College for a couple of months as well. I will be heading to a Capoeira Batizado in Philadelphia in a couple of weeks to test for my first cordao, and to get my ass kicked over and over. I will have the last laugh though, because I will steal all of their moves. Muwahaha!

I realize that this application may not be taken particularly seriously since I am not yet 70. However, I wanted to get the application process started before I was 70 so that you might have a better chance to get to know me. Also if you will notice I am making considerable progress, as I have hit 58 today and will shortly be starting into outlands. When I said we were burning these toons up fast, I wasn't screwing around.

I would recommend hitting up a few Holy-Priest books/sites if that is your Raid-Goal and finding out what gear you need for 5mans vs Raiding. See what you can pickup from questing and see what you can pickup from crafting/etc. I don't know how similar priests are, but I know a few of the Raid-Ready gear items I noticed on my protadin are able to be picked up as early as level 63-66 from quests. Yet, the Heroic 5man gear nearly ONLY comes from regular 5mans.

I do believe healers are quickly becoming an issue, but I wouldn't expect to immediately start Raiding when you hit 70. I'm also speaking from my own personal views. My SP is now 65, and my main (protadin) is now 43. I'm trying to simply level and be as much as an asset as I can, but I'm not holding my breath for a Raid-spot.

If your serious about joining the community, I would start making friends with Downfall members/alts as you can around your level. You'll catch up to Fjork in no-time at this rate, and I still want a few dozen UB runs for Primal Life's. Look me up if you see me online. I'm usually good for an instance run, even if it is Ramps.

Best thing for you to do is be active on the site, /who Downfall and run some things with people of your level if we're on. (I have a lvl 62 Druid who needs to run LOTS of instances...that's a Tank and a Healer...pug DPS should be cake) Keep your eyes peeled for Aidinselene/Friks/Katarah, I'd love to run something with ya!

Sorry that I have been incommunicado for the last couple of weeks, but I have been locked down on Ft. Lewis for WLC. I am back, I will be playing quite a bit in the next couple of weeks, and I will be looking out for Downfall alts for instance smashing. I've made it to 62 and will likely be 63 by the end of business tomorrow. If anyone wants to run through the first couple of BC instances I will be on from 3ish to 11ish Pacific. I have been through Ramps and Blood Furnace so far, and am looking forward to Underbog.
