Downfall Guild Meet Up and Box Social 2 (At PAX!)

PLANS!!!
- Call Torvo (message me on here or in-game if you need my number) on Friday when you get into town -- I'll be at PAX until people start arriving. Planning to hang out at Torvo and Epat's place on Friday night (I'll message everyone who RSVPs by Thursday night with our address).
- Saturday is convention day - we'll all be going to PAX (I think). Dinner event Saturday, 6:30pm at Elephant & Castle -- 1415 5th Ave Seattle, WA 98101.
- Sunday is another convention day, but it's over early. I don't think everyone is going to PAX, but either way for those staying through Monday we'll have another Dinner/Evening event Sunday, 7:00pm at Rock Bottom Bellevue -- 550 106th Ave Bellevue, WA 98004. $2 beers and Rock Band until close!
It was so much fun meeting everyone in Portland this last weekend, plans for the 2nd guild get together are already in the works! This one will be centered around the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) in Seattle, the weekend of August 29-31. If you've never been to PAX, nay even heard of it, it has become North America's largest open-to-the-public video game trade show since E3 scaled back last year. One colossal convention of all things game.

Aside from the convention (which is all three action packed days), we'll probably also try to have an after-hours social event at mine and epat's place. We'd love to invite you all into our city, houses and liquor cabinets, so sign up and let us know if you think you might be able to make the trip. Also activating LFCouch now, so if you need a place to crash or you're in the area and can host some visitors, let us know.

Submitted by Torvo on Wed, 08/06/2008 - 23:27.They haven't posted the schedule for this year yet, but based on last year Saturday is the heavy day and Friday/Sunday are full but not over the top. Aside from random gaming competitions/get togethers and keynote speeches (which I wasn't too thrilled with last year), the Exhibition Hall is really where it's all at. You can do that at any point of any day.
I'm planning to take Friday off from work and go, but when everyone starts getting into town that evening I'm good with taking off to meet up for drinks/dinner/whatever. Saturday I think we should all plan on going, and having some sort of meet up downtown so we can hop back over to the convention afterwards (if desired). Sunday can be a travel day, or if you want to stay through Monday we can go back for another round.
I'm keeping an eye on the official site for a schedule, which I expect they'll post sooner rather than later. I'll share it here once it's up.

Thinking of some other things to do in the Seattle area, either as an alternative to going to PAX or as a break from the convention:
How's LFCouch coming along? I know Katie's setting up in my back yard... G&K do you have a place to crash or do you want my couch's hide-a-bed? Nellem, what about you?
Still purchasing furniture (<3 Craig's List), but we should have the above-mentioned hide-a-bed and 2 additional couches at my place by Labor Day Weekend.

Gameworks is kitty corner to the convention center I believe as I was staying next door to it last year when they had it and had to do some gameworks time!!! The Seattle mariners will be out of town which is too bad but the seahawks have their last preseason game that friday night against the Raiders! We went to that as well last year sat in the hawks nest and had about 10 of us and had a ball! I think you could easily pick up preseason tix off of stubhub for $10-20 each.
Just some things to think about. :)

At $7 a pop, tickets to a M's game would have been a great idea :) Seahawks maybe... With everyone driving into Seattle after work though it might be hard to coordinate on Friday night. I don't want to get too ambitious with that one, so that as people show up they can find me/us easily.
True about the friday

I was there this last weekend and went to the aquarium which is near pikes place and it was pretty cool. There are a ton of cool shops down by ivars and red robin on the water. hmmm I will keep my eye out for other cool things for that weekend as well and keep you all updated.

There isn't enough space to sleep a second person unless they're really interested in splitting a queen size bed with me or they want to sleep in the bathtub.
It's also conviently located at the corner of Crack-Dealer and Crack-Whore, it's a real gem.
I don't have my work Schedule for PAX, but I expect I won't be working much. Last year the show floor (where I have to work) closed at a pretty reasonable hour.

I went to the new H&M last weekend and it was AWESOME but thoroughly picked through for common sizes by dinner time (when I went). It's so new here that the place is a total zoo. I need to go back earlier in the day sometime soon (they get fresh shipments every morning), since they had a really cool pinstripe suit for $75. I've always wanted one, and at that price how can I not??
