Shihli to become a Death Knight

As the subject suggests, I am now planning on making a Deathknight in WotLK, principally as my new raiding main toon.
If everyone would be so kind as to help me with two things:
1) Help suggest some good dps plate gear to level in Outland with, including crafted items and random "of the Soldier" greens; and
2) Help me track down and/or craft said items to prepare for WotLK.
Any help is appreciated, thanks!

But as Shinso said, a lot of the quest rewards from the DeathKnight starting area will point you in the right direction for gear choices/provided gear according to the most desirable DK stats.

Shinso — Sun, 07/20/2008 - 05:06Hurray for NDA lift. Deathknight needs its own unique set of gear. Current plate does not cut it for DK. Since the whole dk leveling area and such has not been revealed it seems like you will have quests to upgrade your gear along the way. Also to note DK starts out with its own unique set of gear.

Gares of War — Sun, 07/20/2008 - 01:50It will be warrio0r and to an extent ret paladin gear regardless of spec. Spell damage is based off AP % if I recall. Furthermore, all spellcrit, hit and haste is doing to be interwoven so crit rating is for spells and melee. Yes, a warlock can have 35% crit to daggers.
Shihli, a lot of the gear you will want is strength and crit. The talents don't seem to strongly correlate to 2 hander dps or dual wielding being better than the other. I have been purchasing BOE blues from 61-70. 55-60 studff is far too rare to bother with. Baclskmsith crafting is only useful for lvl 68-70 items. I assume you won't tank, so ragesteel is the cheapest and best dps for the buck.

saedo — Sat, 07/19/2008 - 11:02Are deathknights really gonna use warrior gear? Or more pally like gear? I remember as I levelled in Outlands on Pally I saw a few quest pieces of pally gear which had spell damage, str, crit and stuff all rolled into one piece. And in Wrath spell/melee crit being rolled into one that would kinda buff that type of gear.
Perhaps based more on spec? Unholy and Frost uses spell damage more?
