I tried doing the HUD in the center as well. It just doesn't work. Since you'll be spending a lot of time looking at unit frames, stick your cast bar near your unit frames and drop the HUD. Frees up some resources and let's you really focus on your Grid etc.

That was the exact position of mine until I went to the Council fight...that was the day I decided the middle right under my toon would be much better for me at least.
