Shihli's Deathknight: Details
Shihli — Tue, 07/22/2008 - 13:06
So I've posted my proposed leveling build, but I'm also planning on making my DK an Inscriber. That is, inscription will be his principle tradeskill ... I'm thinking I'll go either herbalism/inscription or enchanting/inscription, depending on how easy I will be able to get the herbs required to level inscription.
That said, I'll be asking any guild herbalists for some help in the future with providing ample amounts of herbs such that I can level inscription. Obviously, I will be gathering as many herbs as I can on my own - I only ask that if you have any spare herbs (particularly the old-world herbs, of all levels) that you consider selling them to me.
I'll have more details as they become available.

More details released -
Shihli — Mon, 08/04/2008 - 15:26More details released - apparently Abomination's Strength might be considered a raid-wide buff, as opposed to a just-group-wide buff.
In essence, if Necroshiliac isn't needed for tanking in endgame for whatever reason come WotLK lv. 80 raiding, I'll have a flex-spec from Unholy/Blood to (most likely) Blood/Unholy for raw dps.
Fun fun fun.
Unfortunately, Necroshihliac
Shihli — Sat, 07/26/2008 - 10:41Unfortunately, Necroshihliac will not fit.
But Necroshiliac will!
I just have to live without that second H.

Mavandon — Sat, 07/26/2008 - 10:19You're going to name him Necroshihliac right?!
PLEASE. I NEED THIS.
WARNING: This post will probably contribute absolutely nothing to the conversation, it will only waste a few seconds of your life. Mavandon's shenanigans should not be taken by children 10 and under or adults over the age of 70.

Shihli — Fri, 07/25/2008 - 09:22From what I can tell, the deathknight trees look to play out like this:
Blood - looks to be a solid physical dps tank with some excellent dps group buffs. Looks to be a strong member for "Group 5" melee groups.
Frost - looks to be a pretty solid flexible DK. Good physical mitigation, decent spell mitigation, and some excellent synergy with Frost mages.
Unholy - looks to be the predominant caster-tank build, with some late-tree benefits for casters (specifically, a disease that increases the target's vulnerability to spells by 3% - raid-wide buff FTW). Doesn't have the most synergy with other classes the same way Blood does though.

And making a reference to brownie-making skills as well.

Shihli — Wed, 07/23/2008 - 07:20By the time Deathknights are done in their starting area they will be decked out in Outland-quality blues, complete with weapons, trinkets, rings, and even a relic slot item.
I am also trying to collect leveling greens and such for Outland so if anyone comes across any green- or blue-quality PLATE "of the Soldier" gear, please send it my way!

Pedran — Wed, 07/23/2008 - 05:59Probably reagent herbs that will level quickly and stack in-bulk Ness. The only problem is, are the same herbs that power-level alchemy going to have the same use for inscription. :/
I also have one other observation, and I'll ask here since it appears Shihli and Dragonfork have put the most forethought into their DK's so far. What gear requirements are the DK's going to be in need of? From what I understand, the DKs will start in mostly greens with 1-2 blues and a blue 2h weapon. If you choose a two weapon spec....? Also, what BOE gear will be available (that we can gather now) to speed progression through to 71+?
I was thinking that if the DK was a bent-mirror of a Paladin without mana, I'm leaning towards the Fel Iron Set, growing into the Adamantite Set, and finally the Ragesteel Set. That would allow a DK to be well-geared through 70. For weapons I am thinking we could grind out Rep Reward items (Obsidian Beads, Bog Lord Tendrils, Unidentified Plant Parts, etc) so that when our DK hits level 58 and is allowed into Outlands we can blast through to Honored/Revered/etc on each of the rep vendors we need to carry us to Northrend.
Any ideas, or just blog it since this is an idea of wasting hundreds upon hundreds of golds pre-WotLK to try and help twink a character that might just get better gear available to through 'dk' specific quests alone.......
