$6.50 is a small price to pay for absolute account security. I'll be buying a dozen as soon as they're not sold out.

The inclusion of an authenticator onto your account means two things:
1) Pretty much "hacker/keylogger-proof" WoW playing; and
2) You can no longer share accounts with a friendly guildie.
From time to time I've farmed out my acct. info to other guildies (with selected passwords, of course) so that they could help me out with something, be it crafting crap for someone or possibly running Shihli for a specific raid drop when I'm unable to raid myself (e.g. out of town).
If I applied an Authenticator to my account, I would no longer be able to do any of that.

Shihli — Wed, 07/30/2008 - 14:25The misnomer here is that someone hacked the Authenticator.
They didn't.
They obtained the guy's account information (be it by hacking or by a keystroke logger), even down to his security question ... then they called Blizzard's account management folks and told them they wanted the Authenticator on their account disabled.
Again, as Gares said, it had more to do with inept Blizzard employees than it did "omg the authenticator doesn't work omgzzzzzzz"

That's been fixed.
Regardless, it's monumentally more security than what we currently have.
