Last night was our fourth
garreth — Tue, 09/09/2008 - 10:27Last night was our fourth raid in a row where we did not have enough dps signed on. There have absolutely been caster dps slots open this last week. I'm ready to give you a spot in our raid under the following conditions:
1) Don't be a dick. Not saying you are, but don't be one once you get here.
2) No loot for three weeks. Yarly. I want to see if you can raid with people outside of loot for awhile. If it's going to NRP, we'll of course toss it to you, but as it stands I'd like to see you pass for three weeks.
3) Everyone hates server transfers and shammies. You are both. It's an uphill battle, my friend. Prove to us why you rock and why you are here for the community and not just for the raid. A person that has done this well so far is Luczilla. Ask him for pointers :)
4) Understand that it is highly likely you'll get sat a night or two per week. This is a massive transition and you'll need to be patient.
5) Understand that I have an itchy gkick finger after the last server transfers. I will not allow that bullshit to happen again.
6) You need to be online for ALL raids. I'm not going to ginvite a server transfer for the one or two nights they can actually be online. Four nights a week.
Catch me on your toon on gorg tonight. We're doing Sunwell Tuesday and Wednesday with BT cleanup Friday. It will be BT or Sunwell on Monday. Be prepared to wipe. Know Kalecgos, Brutallus and Felmyst inside and out. Be prepared to wipe. Bring all your consumables. Let's get this moving.

I did read everything before
Lunchbox — Sun, 09/07/2008 - 12:16I did read everything before posting. I am still not sold. And no that was not an attack. You probably have noticed by everyones responses is that we are very weary at the fact that it is a server transfer and we want to make sure that you are going to be fine with making that kind of a jump even with the destinct possibility of not bein accepted or even the possibility of not raiding for a while. It is a lot of ifs. No reason to get so offensive. Like you said you were being honest, so was I. That is just how I see things, and does not reflect an entire guild's thoughts.
I'll put this plain and
Iwinyou — Fri, 09/05/2008 - 20:03I'll put this plain and short. If you would read everything you would have had no need to write what you did.

Also in my app i said i enjoy helping people and that i enjoy BT.
(im not being a dick here, just kinda messing around, but seriously LTR before you attack somebody. Thats some advice that will go a long way in life.)
I'll just put it plain and
Lunchbox — Thu, 09/04/2008 - 05:57I'll just put it plain and short. We are not a singular mindset guild. We do alot of end game raids like BT not just for ourselves or to see these ares, but to help others get things they may need. With the mindset of "No BT, Yes Sunwell" sounds, and I aplologize for being blunt, selfish. We run what we run because we have fun doing it. And as yes Sunwell is epic and we want to plow though it, we do run other instances and count on everyone to pitch in and help.

The shaman flood gates have
Jorence — Sat, 08/30/2008 - 22:50The shaman flood gates have opened.
Okay, so, if he gets in, thats 7 shamans...? Why. I'm really confused as to WHY and HOW we have so many all of a sudden. Shouldn't half of them be leaving now?
Well the extra thing you'd
saedo — Fri, 08/29/2008 - 12:43Well the extra thing you'd bring is Totem of Wrath, perhaps another Heroism. Though they can only be used once every 5 min next patch, so prob at most used 2 shamans can cover it, but perhaps that thinking too far ahead. Otherwise resto shamans bring the rest of the stuff anyways.
The thing more is that yea it's not gonna cost us much really, but hope you're aware it'd prob be a risk. Here's how guild apps on our server are handled. They basically only get called upon to fill in for some random raid once or twice a week, or maybe even less. In the meantime, hang out, talk on forums, raid a bit, everyone gets to know each other, and months later through some lethargic process eventually makes it in if they don't fail anywhere along the way.
Being the server transfer, don't really have that luxury. Jumping to this server forces that 3 month commitment in a strange new land. All for a shot at something that's not totally guarenteed. The core gets in first and the only way to sneak in is through the actions of just being available, consistent, reliable, good, etc. And making us forget about those flakey ones that just aren't.
Well, we'll see I guess!

I think he's made some
garreth — Fri, 08/29/2008 - 12:27I think he's made some really good points. I'd like to see what our attendance looks like Monday-Wednesday this next week. If I have to scramble every damned night for a ranged spot, I think I know who I want to fill it.
Hang in there, Iwin. Downfall takes a LOT of time with these kinds of things, you're holding up well.

We run with anywhere from
Shihli — Fri, 08/29/2008 - 12:17We run with anywhere from 3-6 shamans.
That said, "words are just words" but they're also all you've got going for you right now, so they carry a bit more weight than you're giving them.
Words are just words and
Iwinyou — Fri, 08/29/2008 - 12:13Words are just words and actions are actions.. I'f i spend the money and the transfer save to come to you guys, that atleast shows that I have good intentions. In the very least secures me with you for 3 months in which time the expansion comes out. (im not saying im going to leave im just going with worst case. since that seems like a big concern.) So heres a few more things that I hope will help ease your concerns.
This guild is the only guild i have apped too.
My gear is of relatively high level and you will not need to dump gear into me.
I should have very good attendance, things do come up but you can expect 90 to 100% from me.
If I suck, don't match up to my words, If you dont like me you can kick me at very little cost to your guild.... I'm not asking for anything except the intent of a raid slot and I understand if you feel im not worth that slot then I will lose it.
There are many pros to having an elemental shaman in raid. Heroism, Wrath of air totem, tremor totem, totem of wrath, mana spring, makes a good off healer in a jam. 1% hit racial to group and some really sexy shoulders.
on a side note even if you dont pick me to join your guild you should REALLY try an elemental shaman. If they are good they will make a huge impact to your guild, im also not sure how many shaman you run but heroism alone is huge. Most guilds i know run 5+ shams in sunwell.
He makes a good point
starstalker — Fri, 08/29/2008 - 13:22He makes a good point about the shoulders.

Avocado burns your fat inside of you. Rice does not give you fat. Seaweed gives you buffs
Maybe maybe not.
saedo — Thu, 08/28/2008 - 23:07Maybe maybe not. Logistically speaking, it would be a lot easier to fit in a ranged. We only have 1 group of melee, if you're not in it dps suffers so usually can't afford to bring more than that group. Then there's 2 groups for casters, and 2 groups for healers/tanks/other ranged. So more slots there as a fill in, as a permanent spot, only time will tell.
Trust for server transfer shamans is really really low due to all the burns we've had. So it's very hard to convey any proof that it won't turn out to be an emo out waste of time. Promises can be made, but in the end they're just words, and it's not like we haven't heard them before.
So to get one of those coveted spots, it could take months and months of fill in time. Could wind up being invited 0-1 times a week only. Just be part of our community. And being that it would take a server transfer to do it, that risk would take real money and the inablility to go to any other server for a while. So the question is, is that worth it? Or perhaps finding a guild that has a more pressing need for you better?

Disrupter — Thu, 08/28/2008 - 22:29As much as I want to see an elemental shaman in raid, don't we have people that joined months ago that are still not really getting invites? How can we promiss him a spot when we cant promiss our core?
Don't wanna waste the guys time / money transfering only to get invited on the off chance we're missing a bunch of people. And being guaranteed a raid spot right off the bat isn't fair to some of the raiders... who'd he replace?
I know there will be room in our bt/hyjal nights, but our sunwell nights... when all 5 of our wonderful warlocks, all 3 of our rogues, all 3 hunters, 4 mages (er well, 3 and a moonkin now). Can't fit em all... Who'd be subbed out? I'd die for an ele shammy in my group :3 but is he actually gonna get invited to the raids? lol
I'm not worried that
jaibyrd — Thu, 08/28/2008 - 21:07I'm not worried that Downfall would welcome him if he came I am wondering about his stated reason for choosing DF. He wants to do Sunwell. He clearly stated it several times. Now unless we are willing to quarentee him a sunwell spot are we really gonna let this guy go through the trouble of server hopping? As far as I've noticed the raid spots are far from secure for new DF members but I'm not sure about Shammies, we seem to have gone through alot of them...maybe there is a spot quarenteed for this guy, idk. But he should know that before he comes one way or the other because that is what he is interested in afterall.
Yes, I like to heal. No, I've never been shadow.
I'm not sold, sorry.

I honestly can't find
karlizeth — Thu, 08/28/2008 - 20:35I honestly can't find anything problematic with this app. All of the questions we have in the back of our minds (will he go emo? is he leaving drama at his old server to start drama on ours? does he know how to play his class? does he expect free loot?) etc etc has really already been addressed. I think he'd be a positive addition overall to guild.
Thanks Karlizeth. BTW i got
Iwinyou — Thu, 08/28/2008 - 20:59Thanks Karlizeth. BTW i got in for gurt today for 2 attempts with my old guild.. its not the best fight to show my dps because of the threat issues most have on the boss but you can at least see a little bit of what im like in a raid most of the dps are 2/8 some are 4/8 in the raid. http://wowwebstats.com/ytq6jz32zh1mg?s=36942-58328&m
For those of you who are worried about e emoing out it wont happen as long as you dont make me an officer... lots of respect for those of you who are officers in a 2 team raiding guild.
Well I'm wanting to transfer
Iwinyou — Thu, 08/28/2008 - 18:51Well I'm wanting to transfer to a server in a new time zone due to having night classes and a new night time job. (I'm working at Carrabbas Itallian Grill). I live in florida som im on eastern time zone you guys are in PST which is 3 hours later.. So your 7 is my 10 and that works perfect for me...
As i said i enjoy BT but I want to continue my progression rather than backtrack. So i have no problem with doing bt, hyjal or any other raid but i do want to see new things =).
My question is this; If it
jaibyrd — Thu, 08/28/2008 - 13:26My question is this; If it is so difficult to transfer (expensive etc) your main here to then find out you may not get to raid Sunwell for several months why have you not looked into other guilds on the server you are currently on? I'm assuming there is more than one guild on your server attacking Sunwell? Getting into Downfall and getting to raid with Downfall are usually two very seperate events so I'm wondering what will happen to you if you come here and find yourself lacking contacts/alts/and raids?
Yes, I like to heal. No, I've never been shadow.
fair enough. I apologize for
Dikymo — Thu, 08/28/2008 - 11:59fair enough. I apologize for being so blunt but we go through shaman at a pretty alarming rate. good luck with your app.

umm. uhh. you sound kinda
Dikymo — Thu, 08/28/2008 - 09:46umm. uhh. you sound kinda like a prick. just honest opinion. If you are a prick you should maybe move on and not waste our time. The guild officers will decide when if and what raid you would be going with. if not having control over that is going to be a problem you should probably keep walking.
again just commenting on how you represent yourself in your app.

I am sorry If I have come
Iwinyou — Thu, 08/28/2008 - 11:10I am sorry If I have come off that way. I can assure you im a fun loving guy =), but when asked a question i will anwser with the truth, not some shade of the truth. Sometimes I may be blunt but all my friends know I will never lie unless i really have to. About me saying which raid i am applying for ill try to make my point of view more clear. The way I feel about that is I wish to pick up where I left off in raiding. I have to spend money to do so, leave all my alts which are very usefull in making stuff for my main and make my shaman unmoveable for 3 months. I would be willing to do that for a Sunwell raid, but not a BT raid. I have seen all of BT many times and although I enjoy it, I would not like leave soo much behind for content I have farmed. Sunwell has been my favoirte instance and i wish to see more of it, the benefit of that outweighs the cost of leaving everything behind. I hope that that helps you to know where I am comming from. I also have had little experiance with a guild of your size, the last two team guild we had on Arthas was pre BC, in which you did apply for the raid teams independantly (which i think is a reasonable thing to do).... on a side not does anybody else miss 40 man raids. I do.
L2paragraph =) I hope
starstalker — Thu, 08/28/2008 - 12:25L2paragraph

I hope you do realize that our "sunwell" raid does still run BT on occaison. While I'm sure that is slowing down, would that be a negative for you?
On a positive note, I am excited about seeing an elemental shammy in raid, especially with our other caster dps currently touring the world, or wherever they've been.

Well, he passes the Dikymo
garreth — Thu, 08/28/2008 - 12:24Well, he passes the Dikymo test. On with the Shihli test.
And, so you know, Downfall has devoured and emo'd out 14 shamans since BC release. Every single one of them WoW-quit, deleted their toons, server transferred or got gkicked.
Don't even get me started on server transfers INTO Downfall. Needless to say, it's an uphill battle for you.
Prove it to us why you're not going to be "Another Douchebag Emo Shaman". Or, as we like to call them: ADES (pronounced "AIDS").

The raid has been talking about an elemental shammy a lot lately. Stay tuned.

Shihli I see your point and
Iwinyou — Mon, 08/25/2008 - 16:37Shihli I see your point and you guys are lucky. On Arthas guilds have always had issues with breaking up. So here is my guild story. Pre BC i left my first raiding guild "The Legendary" a MC raiding guild, the guild ended up splitting because an officer auto looted the priest staff part out chest in MC. I left for a guild called "Ruin" which broke up after we couldnt get past vaelistraze (oh i know i messed that spelling up). Back when Arthas was on old hardware when pulling Nef or Vael guild had to warn others because of the 30 second lag spike it caused. After Ruin split about 5 of us went to a guild called "Temperance" here i stayed, cleared BWL and saw the first boss of aq40. The summer before TBC came out Temperance, Ret, solid out and a few other guilds left Arthas for Mal'Ganas. I remained on Arthas. In TBC the only two guilds i raided with were Security and NvM. While in NvM i first raided on my warlock Ballerfree. My shaman was in the guild Security and i raided with both. I ended up going camping for a month and lost my spot in Security, took the shaman back to NvM and converted it to my main. I have left NvM due to being stressed out as an officer and a change in my real life job and school. I have an open invite back to NvM but due to raid times that no longer work for me i have started to look to PST servers.
To the question of the raid team. I am looking to pick up raiding where i left off which is with Brut down and on the way to Felmyst. That is why this is the only guild on your server i have apped to. (actually the only app i have up right now, anywhere) I wouldn't mind starting out in the Illidan raid at first because obviously i have to prove myself and Sunwell is no joke where you bring people you dont know, but i want to be recurited with the intent to be on the Sunwell team if i prove myself as a valuable raid slot.
To Gares - I will be running a ZA or Kara soon to get a WWS up. Obviously my numbers will be higher in 25 mans because of more buffs and the fact that i often find myself threat capped in 10 mans.
I said this before but you may have missed it. im 2/8 t6 resto with 22XX+ healing and 235 haste unbuffed.
Starting out in the Illidan
Grasen — Thu, 08/28/2008 - 22:16Starting out in the Illidan raid (LF1M) then moveing to the Sunwell raid(Hamfist) is not an option. I'm Grasen one of the Raid officers for LF1M as well as leader of the ssc/tk fun runs on sat and I can safely tell you we do not trade members between raid. LF1M is not a proveing ground for Hamfist. We are 2 different raids with similer goals in mind. If you were to join LF1M it would be a perminate thing as long as you were with Downfall.
Along with Gares' question,
garreth — Mon, 08/25/2008 - 14:16Along with Gares' question, I'll add on to it:
How do you feel about joining a raid that is just now learning Illidan instead of, say, learning Felmyst?

Gares of War — Mon, 08/25/2008 - 14:07I like this app. I wanted to add something positive.
I do have a few questions for you:
Do you have parses? Having excellent gear is one thing, but seeing you maximize your potential is another.
On a side, do you have gear for other specs? We are always looking for resto, although, dps specs are possible too.
I am not sure how Hamfist, our more progressed raid, is in need for dps, but our secondary raid always needs dps.
