I made Ariane and Tiras on Gorgonnash some time during November/December of 2004. I actually did transfer Tiras to Stormreaver last year, for about 3 months (a week or two longer than the minimum amount). All my "real-life" friends, and my old guild leader transferred there for some stupid reason, and I followed. I gave up my raid spot and DKP in SSC/TK to transfer with them too, and I still regret the decision; most of them don't even play WoW anymore. I believe I transferred back to gorgonnash in January of 2008, and was happily welcomed back, and invited to Mayhem again, although I wasn't able to aquire a regular spot in 25 mans at that point. Mayhem had mostly moved past TK/SSC to my knowledge, and were progressing in Black Temple and Mount Hyjal. I have no experience in either of those dungeons.

Raiding

What talent build do you use to raid?:

Depends what type of spot is available. I am used to raiding 12/6/43, as main tank or off tank. It's my favorite talent spec out of all the ones I've tried over the years. I do have some experience raiding as fury, and have a few pieces of hit gear I picked up from SSC and TK. I only have 185 hit in my fury gear, so... could use some upgrades there. I don't really have a preference for raiding fury or prot, although raiding fury seems to carry much less responsibility.

Tell us a little about how your class contributes to a raid.:

Well, if played and built correctly, a warrior can totally avoid crushing blows and generate a ton of threat, and that makes everything flow much more smoothly, especially during strenuous fights where there is much healing to be done across the raid. As far as raiding as a damage dealer, we seem to hold our own very well against other classes, although we don't offer much crowd control.

What role are you most comfortable/geared playing?:

Tanking

Would it be a problem if you had to wait 3 weeks or 3 months to get into raid?:

Not at all. I waited months and months for a raid spot in mayhem, and never left the guild because of it. I would simply find a pug Gruul's or Magtheridon if I wanted to raid. The only reason I left now, is because they disbanded for the most part. I am interested in being in a guild more than just for a chance to raid, it's a very social thing for me, and I enjoy learning from more experienced players.

List the instances you have experience in, and the farthest you have been in that instance.:

I used to main tank molten core (full clear), black wing lair (full clear), AQ20 (full clear), AQ40 (killed huhuran). I'm also attuned to Naxxramas, not that we had much success in there before the expansion came. I have main tanked every heroic, Karazhan, Gruul's lair, and Magtheridon's lair. I have some off tank experience in SSC (mostly Hydross and Lurker) and TK (mostly Void Reaver). I have never been to ZA, no one seems to want a warrior tank for it, the preference is Paladin main tank with druid offtank, I've noticed. As fury dps, I have raided KZ, gruul's, and magtheridon, also most heroics. On my rogue, I have raided all heroics, KZ, and Gruul's lair.

What is your favorite 25-man BC Boss encounter, and why?:

Hmm kind of a toss-up for me between two fights... Lurker is awesome, because only a couple of us could even fish in the water, and so it would take a little while. Everyone would get relaxed, and start conversations in vent, jumping around on the platform, spacing out, and then suddenly lurker would appear and startle everyone, and the raid would spring into action. It forced the entire raid to participate and move with each other, and gave the tanks a chance to show off. I also enjoy tanking gruul, because he is just the biggest goddamned bastard. It always gets my adrenaline going a bit, because I can't let him crush me while I am being thrown around and turning him to avoid cave-ins, and it seems to require some finesse.

What is your least favorite 25-man BC Boss encounter, and why?:

Magtheridon, because people always seem to manage to screw up clicking on the cubes. It's not rocket science people!

Why should we recruit you?:

I'm a solid tank, and I understand how to keep myself from being crushed (for the most part) and what gear to attain to eventually make myself "uncrushable." I have a lot of experience tanking various instances, but am willing to learn new strats, techniques, and fights. I'm also patient. I'll be around when someone doesn't show and you just happen to need an extra sword & board for the raid, or an extra melee dps.

Why have you chosen to apply to Downfall?:

Mostly because a few members used to be in Mayhem, that I am quite fond of. Secondly, I have done pugs with Downfall members and thoroughly enjoyed them. They mentioned I should drop an app recently, my response- "I'm already in the process." :)

What do you expect to get out of Downfall membership?:

Some renewed social aspect of the game, hopefully; people to get advice from, run heroics and 10-mans with, and I'd love to learn ZA. I also wouldn't mind being a sub in 25-man raids, or even get a regular spot.

How do you feel you will contribute to the downfall community?:

I'll be an extra tank, fury dps or MS warrior (S2/3/4) laying around should someone have need of me. I have lots of badge gear to catch up on, so I'm always down to tank a heroic or something, pretty much.

Do you have any references in Downfall?:

Afton would probably have something good to say, she remembers raiding with me in Mayhem.

How long do you intend to stay in Downfall?:

Probably until the expansion comes, and then I will know what everyone is doing... kind of hard for me to know what you guys will do after that.

What things might cause you to leave?:

Having a hard time thinking of something. Possibly if everyone I know leaves, and I wouldn't be leaving you guys short-handed or on bad terms, I suppose I might consider leaving. I guess it would depend if i fit in, or become needed somehow.

That last question is a trick! It's worded differently both times... I can stay up past 10, if that matters. Even on days when I am working, I never work past 5pm or so, server time. I am an old-school geek and play D&D with friends every tuesday night, although sometimes it gets moved to wednesday night.

I'm a wanna-be musician, I play bass. The rock band I was helping to form is sort of on hiatus until february, so I'm trying to start playing with a local reggae band. I also have some talent drawing with pencils. I'm trying to learn how to render in 3-d animation.

I don't go to school currently, and I don't work much during the summer, but I will work 5 days a week or more during fall/winter/spring. I am always off work by 5pm though.

I'm not sure how to go about linking my prot gear, but I have 15k HP with shout, around 490-500 defense, 25% block, 30% dodge, and 20% parry. All my gems are +12 stamina.

I applied to this weekend's raid, although I didn't see a TK/SSC raid. Did I apply to the right ones, which Aidin mentioned?

Thank you for your application to Downfall. We are not currently recruiting for our 25 man MH/BT/SW raids. This does not mean that your application is or will be rejected. What it does mean, is that you will now be faced with a few tasks.

Downfall is a community first and foremost and a successful raiding guild second. First you need to ask yourself what it is you want from Downfall. If it's a spot in end game raid, and nothing more...then you may want to seek entry into another one of the many guilds on Gorgonnash.

If you desire a strong sense of community then get ready to work for it! When we talk about community, we aren't talking about the type of community that jumps when you say OMGRUNMYALTTHRUVC!!!! We're talking about a group for people who love this game we pour our lives into, people who will run things with you when they have time, people who may have their own special way of contributing to the community.

Now that you have applied (and if my wall of text didn't lose u 2 paragraphs ago), don't just sit there and hope someone will come hunt you down and say "HERE'S YOUR INVITE!!" because that simply will not happen. Those who gain entry into Downfall work for it. Members have waited upwards of 3 months or more to be part of our community. How do you ensure that you have every option to be the next addition?

Here's an idea:

Stay active on this thread, it's your application. You will receive feedback and recommendations. Don't take anything personal, if you can't take constructive criticism, you will never make it in guild chat. Applications are open to the entire community, not just officers, so if you were a douche to a member in the past, be ready for it to bite you in the ass.
If given goals to meet, make them.
Sign up for events you can make and which you are geared for. No need to sign up for MH/BT/SW, as those aren't testing grounds for new members. Focus on the Sunday Gruul/Mag run by yours truly or the Saturday SSC/TK run by Grasen.
If you sign up...show up. No one likes an app who signs up for all raids and never shows. Be sure to send a tell to the raid leader so he/she knows you are available and ready to rock.
Download the raid pack. DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT show up to a Gruul/Mag or SSC/TK without our required add ons. If you do not understand what you are looking at, then research it. If you still don't understand, post you're question and someone will help you. (If you think only bad players use mods, we can say our goodbyes right now)
Do everything you can to get your name out there, and show why you should be part of our community. Run 5 mans, Run 10 mans, participate in forum discussions.

If and when you are accepted into Downfall, you are strictly on a trial basis. If we invite you because you convinced us you were the worlds greatest healer/tank/random dps class, and you looooooooooove to run 5 mans...but you never run a thing, you never sign up for fun runs, and you burn out and don't sign on for 1+ months, don't be surprised if you find yourself guildless on log in one day.

It's very simple, don't say what we want to hear just to get in, because it will haunt you in the end. Be honest, and we will be fair.

With that said....GOOD LUCK ON YOUR APPLICATION!
