Help Me Heal
garreth — Wed, 10/15/2008 - 10:06
I've been freakishly busy the last few weeks and haven't had a chance to really get into the healing mechanics much for the new paladin spells.
Can someone please direct me to some links that discuss the new techniques to healing as a pally in 3.0, specifically in how to get to the most out of Beacon of Light and what not?
Thanks!

A bit more mana, hp, or just wanna damage, etc. The judgement will be what you're assigned to do. Someone will be light, someone else will be wisdom, etc.

garreth — Thu, 10/16/2008 - 09:43Well, I ran my first raid as Bacon last night and here are some thoughts:
Healing is now much more fast-paced and frantic than it used to be. A fast connection and zero interface lag are required. I defaulted to putting Beacon on the off-tank at first, but found that on fights like Kalecgos, having the beacon on me was amazing. I'd heal the tank for a massive amount, the Beacon would heal me for a massive amount and I'd get mana back. It was just nuts.
However, I'm already really bad about letting it fall off. I'm looking into making a beacon macro that makes the beacon target my focus, and then I'll use a mod like ClassTimers to track the duration of Beacon on that focus.
It's weird healing now while scouting for "Another person that will take a lot of damage but who is not entirely reliant on me to keep them alive" to put Beacon on. Off-tanks usually fit this bill, but I'd like to get better at doing it on the fly. As an example: Brutallus. I'm a burn healer, but I'd like to be quick and smart enough to throw beacon on the current tank while I'm spamming heals on the burn victims. It's very weird to put a spell on someone who you are explicitly NOT healing.
I'm still grasping at how the hell I'm going to get all these fucking judgements and seals on my bars now...

Stickit — Wed, 10/15/2008 - 10:39I'll post a few for ya that I've been looking at. I was a bit confused at first about beacon of light, you can't get any benefit out of trying it on someone that hasn't taken any damage. I got Deleyna on her lock to LT so she had some missing health & I also unequipped all my gear & put it back on so I was also short some HP. Then i saw it work. Seems pretty sweet. Like said I couldn't see any benefit until there was missing HP. And not being in a raid setting so I honestly don't know how well it will or wont work yet. Hope these help. Seems like there is alot of mixed thoughts & decisions as to whether its useful in all encounters or just 5 & 10 mans. Honestly I think only time will tell.
