Another City Raid

Adwarflol's picture

Adwarflol — Mon, 10/20/2008 - 13:35

Georgepatton, asked me to ask DF if we would be interested in participating in a city raid on thunderbluff. Apparently Tempest will be involved this time as well. For details pst Georgepatton I guess.

A new window has opened to us.

Thanks, I knew the spell hit was in there, but I wasn't thinking about the innate resists.

They're not resisting spells

saedo — Thu, 10/23/2008 - 10:47

They're not resisting spells as level 83s in your normal traditional thinking.

There's 2 things going on. Spell miss, which you over come with Spell hit. And there's that innate spell resistance everything has (cept to Holy unless that's changed) that's normally covered by a Warlock Curse of Shadows to completely negate it, for most bosses.

So you won't resist at the 60-80% or whatever resist rate +13 mobs have on you. You'll just find that you'd resist stuff even if you're at "spell hit cap". And that's due to the innate resistances they've obtained and you can no longer negate with level 70 spells. Though perhaps some people still might be able to if they try, it just won't be your normal "pve raid" gear to do it.

I thought the spell resist

Fjork — Thu, 10/23/2008 - 10:38

I thought the spell resist rate still fell under the +3 levels window along with the hit/dodge rate? If they were really resisting spells as level 83s, would people have dropped them already post-patch already?

Thanks for correcting me on the armor value adjustment though. I missed that one.

I think the spell resist rate

Dufe — Thu, 10/23/2008 - 10:46

I think the spell resist rate your thinking of is the level based spell resist from pre-3.0. Those are now called misses, not resists, and are included in the hit rating as mentioned. The other resist that's not level based for the bosses is like the resist gear/penetration gear type resist.

saedo — Thu, 10/23/2008 - 09:06

Partially right. The calculations are for glancing blows, crushing blows (outdated), crit rate (not damage), spell miss rate (the thing with spell hit gear).

They are still level 83 in regards to hp, all damage, armor value (<- gimps all physical damage / threat), spell resist rate (the thing that normally makes spell pen useless if you have curse up).

"Skull type bosses are the

Fjork — Thu, 10/23/2008 - 08:38

"Skull type bosses are the hardest mobs to kill in WoW. Their level is not displayed as a number, but as a death's head sign. These bosses have a "dynamic" level - when a numeric level is required for some calculation, they are considered to be 3 levels above the player character involved in that calculation. That is, if both a level 60 warrior and a level 65 druid both tank the same skull type boss, the boss will make crushing blows on the warrior as if it was 63, and on the druid as if it was 68. Similarly, the boss will resist their respective powers as a 63- and 68-level creature would. The first skull type boss that a player may fight with in PvE is Pyroguard Emberseer in Upper Blackrock Spire. There are also some skull type bosses that a usual player will not fight with, e. g. bosses in Capitals or Nessy in the Deeprun Tram. "

They are lvl 80. Not sure

Ewiges — Wed, 10/22/2008 - 12:05

They are lvl 80. Not sure where you get your information. A skull does not always mean just +3 levels. A skull means +3 levels off of their level. ie: Illidan is still 73 if you bring in a bunch of 65s.

4am isn't gonna happen for

Fjork — Tue, 10/21/2008 - 05:59

4am isn't gonna happen for me. Evenings, weekends. Though I could probably do a midnight raid on Friday.

However, they are not technically a level "83" boss. The '??' equals three levels above your current level. As a 65, the bosses would crit based on a level 68 mob. At 66, the bosses would crit based on a level 69 mob.

Since they have been tuned for level 80s though, they damage from non-crits and their overall health has been adjusted.

I would recommend trying to handle two raids simultaneously. All mages, rogues, and warlocks would be in one raid by themselves with all their pvp gear dealing death to all the hordies. Then you can have your tanks/healers/other dps decked out in their PVE gear. (T5 or better should do for nontanks)

Just random thoughts.......

No, 4am. This can not be done

Ewiges — Mon, 10/20/2008 - 17:41

No, 4am. This can not be done with horde. We figured its going to take an hour do do with 60 people. So we have to minimize horde interference. Only two guilds have downed all bosses since 3.0, and they were both PvE servers at 4am when no one is on.

Future raid will be about 70

Ewiges — Mon, 10/20/2008 - 15:16

Future raid will be about 70 of the most elite members from Tempest, Serenity, and Downfall. George will get in contact with me or one of our officers to let us know when. Its going to be a 4am Saturday run.

Ewiges — Mon, 10/20/2008 - 15:16

This was yesterday. After realizing how hard this will be at 70 (boss at 83) we decided to move to silvermoon. After 45 minutes he was at 36% until horde finally made a charge of over 20 levels 70s right when the guards respawned.
