PvP Buffs for Shaman

So how about that new Flametongue weapon? The new Toughness? Those both look really nice. I'm seriously considering running a 5v5 with arms warrior, ret paladin, enhancement shaman, discipline priest, and resto druid. That just seems like a nasty, nasty combo to me. Minimal CC, but reductions to healing done on a target, healing done by a target and massive melee burst DPS+windfury+heroism. Heck, you could probably use a second resto druid for more CC in place of the disc priest if you wanted to.

Exactly, Shihli. And since

Especially since it works the same way that Seal of Righteousness did pre-2.0 in that while the actual base damage of the proc scales with weapon speed the effect of +spell damage does not. You get the same amount of additional damage on each swing from your gear/talents (i.e. that talent that turns AP into spell damage... the name escapes me right now...) whether it's a 1.3s dagger or a 3.8s two-handed mace. Faster=better for Flametongue damage and for consistently keeping the debuff up.
In general this is obviously less damage than a double-WF, double slow weapon setup, but the debuff is worth it. The idea of having FT debuff on the healer and MS debuff on the focus target almost sounds too good to be true. 25% healing done to that target by that healer? Amazing. 6k holy light crits suddenly become 1.5k holy light crits, HoT effectiveness is gimped substantially, and Healthstones become all but worthless if the focus target winds up with both debuffs on them at the same time. I'm thinking ret pally/enhancement shaman/sub rogue would be a nasty combo. Tons of damage that has a lot of synergy, multiple stacking healing debuffs, offensive and defensive dispel, and enough crowd control/interrupts to deal with casters. Freedom and Protection are just the icing on the cake.

Mmm, looks like enhancement
Shihli — Wed, 02/27/2008 - 23:42Mmm, looks like enhancement in PvP might go WF main hand, FT offhand.
