Ret Paladin Dragonspear
Dragonspear — Tue, 03/04/2008 - 23:44
Name: Dragonspear
Class: Paladin
Race: Human
Level: Original 70, Current 61
Age: 21
Playtime at 70: 28 days 22 hours 29 minutes (On my 70 pally), 0 on my current pally
Overall Playtime: In total 107 days 10 hours 03 minutes
Average playtime per week: I average usually about 5 hours at least a day
Good computer/internet connection? (if you dc/lag a lot) During daytime hours (5 am-1 pm Server Time) the internet connection can be spotty since I am playing on my schools WiFi. However the rest of the time I am playing at home with a reliable connection
Server you are currently on: my main is on Uldaman, my current pally is on Gorgonnash
Link to your armory: 70 pally http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Uldaman&n=Dragon...

Willing to re-spec as required by guild/encounters? Providing I have the gear to adequetly play that spec I will.
Explain your talent build and why you use it for raiding: For raiding I will use the standard Retribution raid spec of 5/8/48. This spec is maximized for personal dps. It allows the player to get Crusade (+3% damage to most in game raid bosses), +3% hi, -30% Threat Generation. The only thing missing in this spec is due to mana issues the paladin will take benediction instead of improved blessing of might. The 5 points in holy is for Divine Strength which unbuffed will generally increase AP by over 100.
Tell us a little about your class in a raiding environment: Paladins in a raiding enviroment are no longer set in stone as they were pre TBC. Ret itself is meant to increase overall raid utility. Imp Sanc Aura increases the entires party damage by 2%, Imp Judgement of the Crusader increases everyones crit chance against that target by 3%, crusader strike keeps up the judgements of the other paladins (judgement of wisdom and judgement of light). Judgement of light allows hunter pets, felguards, rogues, fury warriors etc to keep themselves up, saving valuble healer mana for times of concern. Judgement of wisdom provides extra mana regen which helps out on longer endurance fights.
Raid History
Raid/Instance Experience (pre & post bc): MC, Ony, ZG, AQ20, Kara, Gruul, SSC, Kazzak
Previous Guilds and Why you left them:
Gorgonnash Former Guilds
Konflikt - Left due to wanting to see some raiding content before TBC came out
Dominus Invictus - Left due to time conflicts between myself and most of the rest of the guild, they tended to start getting on as I was going to bed.
Quatri Measurum - Left due to transfering off the server to join my RL friends on Uldaman
Warsong Sentinels - Friends with the leadership of this guild and it is where my paladin currently resides. However in the time I have been gone from Gorgonnash the guild seems to have died. I would also like to expierence TBC Raid Content.
Uldaman Former Guilds
Numinous - Joined via RL friends when I Transfered to Uldaman. Left with my real life friends to create our own guild.
Recently Bandaged - Guild created by RL friends of mine. They ended up quitting the game and I left to find a guild that wasn't just me.
Southern Takeover - PvP Guild on Uldaman, I still have toons in it to this day (My warrior and Shaman). I have many good friends in here but a majority of them only log on anymore for arenas before going back to their horde toons.
Seething Demons - Left when the guild fell apart.
The Elder Ones - Guild that I expierenced Kara with, rose to the Position of Shaman Class leader. Left due to disagreements with the rest of the leadership and to join a 25man raiding guild.
Nexus - This is the guild I ran SSC and Gruul with. I was only in a week as I was narrowly outvoted when it came to me staying in the guild after my initation period. Still good friends with the guild master Fixxit who offered to reference me to other raiding guilds on uldaman.
Windward - Joined with my hunter due to a former post saying they were looking for some. Have joined with my 70 pally since that is who I play the most on that server. But overall I will be coming here because I miss being on a PvP Server.
General Questions
1) We receive a lot of applications. Why should we recruit you? Please
also link a WWS report (or screenshots of damage/healing meters) to
demonstrate how you do in a raid setting.
I play with a passion for the game and due to the nature of my class/spec combo I play with a chip on my shoulder. Unlike other classes who raid, a Ret Paladin has to prove themself every raid and can never afford to back off even a little bit (unless the threat meter says differently)
2) Why are you leaving your current guild? Why are you applying to us? Do you have any references in Downfall?
a. I am trying to finish leveling so that I can fully return to playing on a PvP Server.
b & c. I am applying to you due to being good friends with Alydis who also said I should try out <Downfall>
3) Tell us about yourself. How long have you been playing WoW? How
old are you? Are you in school or working? Any other significant
hobbies?
I have been playing WoW Since December of '05. I have been Retribution spec on my paladin for a majority of the time since May of '06. I am 21 years old attending the University of South Florida and I also hold a job on Campus in one of the computer labs. My Hobbies outside WoW are shooting pool and studying hurricanes. I also due a lot of reading when I find books that I enjoy.
4) Can you post a screenshot of your UI?
I have no current screenshots of my UI, more to the point, I will probably be changing it in the next few days. Once I do change it though I will try to post a screenshot.
5) If you had to choose, would you put Cisper or Shinzwei on auto-follow?
If given no choice at all I would do /roll 2
6) If Shihli tells a joke (good or bad), will you laugh?
If it is a good joke I will laugh, if it is a bad joke I will probably make jokes about the bad joke :D
7) Anything else you like to add?
I study Hurricanes but I am currently a mathematics major in college due to my University not offering Meteorology as a major. I tend to enjoy PvP immensely, and usually if I am not playing WoW on this server I am on Uldaman on one of my toons there. As far as why another paladin, I personally feel that paladin is the class that I play the best out of all my classes and I find them fun when they are ret.

Dragonspear — Fri, 03/07/2008 - 16:21The only class I ever sucessfully beat both games and both expansions with (i.e. the same toon through both storylines) was my Elven Ranger ><
After that I played a lot of games with the D&D Paladin, who counter to the Blizz paladin (having never played WC3 before playing WoW only after) really could walk around kicking the living S*&^ outta people.
Favorite full 6man self made combo I ever ran was Wizard Slayer, Stalker, Inquisitor, Evoker, Cleric of Helm, Blade.
As far as if I were to start a game now what would I go make, herm, Prolly Inquisitor or Wizard Slayer.

Minor side not, just what viability do you bring as a warlock other than soulstone and healthstone :P
Utility>DPS sometimes :P
BTW, Check your fel hunter, I might have killed them recently. Some people wake up and wonder what they are gonna do with a day. I wake up thinking how many fel hunters I can kill that day :D

Dragonspear — Thu, 03/06/2008 - 12:23Alt+Tab is a beautiful thing Dufe :D Of course there is also the fact that I have been at work (computer lab moniter) and with no homework to do I have been tryin to level my paladin as I keep hitting refresh here. Normally I wouldn't be refreshing every 5 minutes. Maybe check back whenever im in flight someplace or another. Or just bored at work.
BTW, disenchanting your healing shield ftl, already opened a ticket. Plus side tho, like 287 enchanting now. So close to actually getting useful mats again when I DE ><

Getting back to the terms of
Dragonspear — Thu, 03/06/2008 - 10:46Getting back to the terms of WoW v WAR, the main people that are expected to leave WoW for WAR are the pvpers. That being said, I have already seen most of the pvp WoW has to offer and little to none of the pve side. I have heard and would like to expierence what I have heard is a very good pve game. If WAR should end up having better pvp, well then, 1 dollar a day (assuming war is $15/month as well) is still cheap for entertainment in college.
The only reason I even bought DDO to begin with is that my computer games started back with Baldur's Gate really. Needless to say I was not impressed in the least.
The other nice thing about WoW PVE is that it continues the story line set up in WC3, which is kinda fun to follow sometimes :D

Ret pally new to 70 is going
Drewsta — Thu, 03/06/2008 - 10:43Ret pally new to 70 is going to take a lot of time and commitment to gear up to even gear up for 25 mans. If you really are serious, then the road is going to be, long hard and bumpy. Sorta like what's it garreth's pants (herpes are forever) If your ready for that commitment then you get my vote. Use the calendar on the site and sign up for a Karazhan you can make once 70 keyed and decently geared.
Drewsta, thankfully this
Dragonspear — Thu, 03/06/2008 - 10:48Drewsta, thankfully this time I know what I am getting into having done it once on my first paladin. Then again, if everyone took the easy way out of things all 25 man raids would be a mix of hunters and warlocks. Half the fun in this game, especially as ret is the challenge. I stated before, you gotta play with a chip on your shoulder and that makes the game fun whenever you disprove someone else :D

Grasen- My Real life friends
Dragonspear — Thu, 03/06/2008 - 10:00Grasen- My Real life friends are on my pvp server and were the reason I left Gorg originally. However, many of them have either perma quit or quit off and on which leaves long periods of time without the people I had gone there to play with. It also left me without many of my old friends I had made on Gorgonnash.
Garreth- My future real time plans are just school. I might just get a job during the summer to help pay for the fall but I would not be going to school while I did that so I would not expect to see a huge drop in time. As far as "not fun anymore in 3 months", the longest my account has been frozen since I got the game was 2 months as I waited on money to repay for my subscription. I do plan on buying WotLK when it comes out and I will be buying WAR as well. WAR only because of some friends I know who are gonna buy it. However unless a majority of my ingame WoW friends decide to up and quit to go to WAR (Alydis, Dod, Andurill, Swordstriker, Everlance etc) I will most likely continue to play WoW. If I ever do find a toon is getting boring, that is when I just start a new alt to play in my off time.
After all, I am still missing a druid, rogue, priest, mage and warlock :D
That being said, I am not expecting WotLK to come out until within the 2 week spam that WAR does and I am not expecting either of those to come out until probably Christmas of this year if then.
So ya, I plan on being around for awhile :D

Dragonspear — Thu, 03/06/2008 - 09:35The moment Blizzard allows PvE to PvP transfers I would be back in a heartbeat.
That being said, as soon as my new paladin on gorgonnash hits lvl 70 she will become my main. To much time has been spent on a pve server :(

Dufe — Thu, 03/06/2008 - 09:07Just for my own clarification, are you server transferring your 70 back to Gorg? Or are we just discussing the "alt"? If we're talking about the 70, I'd be interested to see what he can do in raid.

I want this guy in guild
convertibull — Thu, 03/06/2008 - 06:47I want this guy in guild because he called feral druids a "poor dire hamster". This made me giggle inside.
1. let's pretend we'll just
Dragonspear — Wed, 03/05/2008 - 22:441. let's pretend we'll just move someone out of group 5. Who should it be and why do you deserve to be there more?
Answer: The feral druid, although the +5% crit is useful to everyone in that party, the sword rogues and the dps warrior will both be using windfury where as the druid will not. Although the 5% extra crit is helpful the only people in the party that have abilities truly based off crit are the enhancement shaman (flurry, unleashed rage, elemental focus) and the dps warrior (flurry and rampage). Sanc Aura in this case will also scale with the groups gear, as you get more gear, the 2% will still scale, as opposed to the crit which is flat. Not to mention, it is usually in teh tank group where you will find a warrior tossing up commanding shout instead of battleshout which will help out the poor dire hamster in case he needs to tank :D
recap in short form: Windfury users with a ret paladin 4/5, windfury users with a feral druid 3/5. Sanc Aura is constant and scales with gear, as you get gear however, the crit bonus will not be as noticable from the feral druid.
As far as helping other low level 60 toons, and to that point especially toons period, one of the reasons I am coming back to gorgonnash is because of my friends. My hunter hit 70 in the middle of January, she only managed to finish getting keyed for kara last Sunday. Also, if someone is looking for quest help and I am in the same area, I normally go over and help in a "you pat my back and ill pat yours kinda way." So if I can offer assistance I usually do, never knowing when I myself might need to ask for help myself later on :D Now if I am busy, I might ask them till wait till I am done with whatever, or ask them if they can wait till a later time to help but overall I have found being helpful yields positive results.
Favorite Sandwich? Answer: Unless you have been to Tampa, FL you have probably never heard of it, but my favorite is an Actual Cuban Sandwich, outlined below.
Spanish Pork, Sweet Ham, Hard Salami, Pickle (which I take off), Swiss Cheese, Regular Yellow Mustard all on Cuban bread and then pressed until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melting :D
Items and Consumables:
Roasted Clefthoof-Don't sell yourself short with Ravager dogs, as the pve ret spec you get +10% str from Divine Strength. This means that Roasted Clefthoof will give you 44 AP instead of only the 40 before ravager dogs. Add in kings and itll go up another 4 AP.
Super Mana Pots- No Mana=No DPS, nuff said, bring a ton as you will run through them often. On my current pally I pot early (as soon as i drop below the max cap on the mana pot) and pot often.
Super Health Pots- Dead Pally=not only no DPS but no Utility. Plus, dying is expensive and farming money cuts into funner things (like dueling Alydis).
Adamantite Weightstones/Sharpening Stones- The Reason you use these instead of mana oil is that they will tend ot increase your crit by about .5% Crit=Vengence and Vegence=more dps. Also would prolly bring some Superior Mana Oil for longer duration fights if I felt the MP5 would help out.
Flask- Ok, so I forgot the name but it would be the 25 MP5 Flask. 120 AP from Relentless Assualt is nice, but hey, no mana=no crusader strike=judgements falling off=loss of raid spot. Btw, Didn't I mention no mana=no dps :D
Elixirs- Although More expensive, especially on new content, I might be more beneficial to find a common ground. I believe there is a 16MP5 elixir as well as elixir of major strength. This provides a nice middle ground between balancing AP (hit like a girl, crit like a girl, str rocks) and MP5.
Bandaids- YOu just don't leave home without them nuf said :D
Side note: 50% of Sims say yes when polled in a recent survey
Edit: Forgot to mention those bandaids ><
