Quest: The Nightmare's Corruption
Submitted by Shihli on Thu, 07/24/2008 - 14:24.
http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=8735
I've had this quest in my quest log for like ... two years now. I would like to finish it.
I'm seeking ~7-9 people to help me achieve this goal. It's part of the old-assed "Opening the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj" world event that occurred about two and a half years ago or so. After this quest, there is another world event that I must do (protect Moonglade from a possessed Eranikus while Tyrande Whisperwind runs to protect us, and cleanse Eranikus' soul) - once these events are done, I will have completed [The Scepter of the Shifting Sands], and gotten some shitty lv. 60 epics for my troubles.
I'm a quest fiend.
If you require motivation, I would gladly pay you for your help. That, or help you farm/do instances.
Thanks ahead of time guys.
Downfall Guild Meet Up and Box Social 2 (At PAX!)
Submitted by Torvo on Mon, 07/14/2008 - 12:22.
It was so much fun meeting everyone in Portland this last weekend, plans for the 2nd guild get together are already in the works! This one will be centered around the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) in Seattle, the weekend of August 29-31. If you've never been to PAX, nay even heard of it, it has become North America's largest open-to-the-public video game trade show since E3 scaled back last year. One colossal convention of all things game.
Details (and tickets) are available at http://www.pennyarcadeexpo.com/.
Aside from the convention (which is all three action packed days), we'll probably also try to have an after-hours social event at mine and epat's place. We'd love to invite you all into our city, houses and liquor cabinets, so sign up and let us know if you think you might be able to make the trip. Also activating LFCouch now, so if you need a place to crash or you're in the area and can host some visitors, let us know.
Who's in Portland Friday night
Submitted by Tankard on Mon, 07/07/2008 - 13:16.
A lot of people have been making posts about being around for the guild meet on Saturday night, but it's unclear exactly who will be around on Friday. So, sign up if you are going to be in the Portland area Friday night and post if you have ideas on something to do besides raiding.

Karazhan attunement, anyone?
Submitted by Shihli on Mon, 06/30/2008 - 12:20.
(Copied from a previous blog entry I had made)
This is to get a bit more visibility from the raiding and not-yet-raiding lv. 70's out there.
So in order to get myself to Karazhan attunement (which I know isn't "necessary" but it leads to free gems, rep rings, etc), I need to do the Karazhan key quest chain.
I would like some help doing this - however, I would like to hit specific instances in a specific order. The reason for this? I have literally EVERY Outland instance-based quest (except heroic quests) available on Drewpy, so if I do the instances in the following order, I would ONLY need to ask for help with each non-heroic instance once.
1) Shadow Labyrinth - leads to quests in Steamvaults, Shattered Halls, and Arcatraz.
2) Botanica
3) Mechanar - these two lead to a quest in Arcatraz.
4) Steamvaults
5) Arcatraz - these two lead to a quest in Black Morass.
6) Black Morass - completed Karazhan attunement!
"Anytime" - Shattered Halls
In short, I might ask for some instance help after raids a few nights this week, possibly on the weekend. By no means should anyone feel they HAVE to do any of this with me, but I would appreciate the help.
Thanks guys.

Garreth's Healing Seminar - Learn To Maximize and Play Beyond Your Gear
Submitted by garreth on Mon, 06/23/2008 - 10:30.
We've got a lot of new healers that need a LOT of work. We also have some old veterans that could use some new insight into how play their class as efficiently as possible.
I'm setting up this one hour group session for all of us to get on vent and go somewhere to work on honing our skills. We'll be going over things like:
- Configuration of Grid and Grid-addons
- Discussion of Grid indicators
- Using indicators as a realtime guide on where to put heals
- Downranking
- Macros: mouse-over cleanse, auto-trinket-pop, self-casts
- The focus frame
- How To Use Other People's HoTs To Make YOU Better
- Splitting up the raid into healing zones
- Gear choices: Longterm or Power-healing?
- Decisions: How To Decide Who To Heal?
- Why We Don't Always Care About "Healing Meters"
This will be a quick, fun way to get a lot of healing mains some information they might not have been exposed to yet. All healing alts are welcome and highly encouraged to join.
I have this scheduled tentatively for Thursday evening. The time may change, so keep a heads up. Please SIGN UP so we have some numbers on who's coming.
I'd like that all healers read up at the following resources:
Zul'Aman Bear Mount guide, by Shihli
Submitted by Shihli on Fri, 06/20/2008 - 08:45.
To preface: If you are reading and plan on implementing this guide, then I assume that you already know the general lay of the land of ZA. What each boss does, what trash pulls look like, how loot works, the whole shebang.
PART 1 – Group composition
The key to a solid mount run is a well-balanced and synergistic group. That is to say, it is a huge benefit to have classes that complement each other (e.g. Warlock and Shadowpriest, Enhancement Shaman and Fury Warrior). When doing your first mount runs, you will want a few things:
1. T5+ quality gear, with flasks and consumables. If you are still decked in full Karazhan and limited/early badge gear, you will not have the health, mana, dps, or damage mitigation to make this a successful mount run. If you are in predominantly T5 and badge gear, you will have better chances but it is still difficult. Wearing 50/50 T5/T6 or better is highly recommended. Regardless of gear, full consumables are highly recommended (and in my Lava Crab runs, required) – flasks (or elixirs if that’s better for you), food, scrolls, weapon oils, the whole nine.
Shihli to be sparse for about a week
Submitted by Shihli on Sun, 06/15/2008 - 20:20.
So yeah, as the title says I'll be a little sparse in the next week or so. I've been really sick lately, and I think it's due to stress compiling from work and from leading and co-leading a variety of raids in WoW. I love using WoW to relax, but as of late it's been a *bit* more difficult to unwind after work by hopping right onto WoW.
I may miss Hamfist raids this week, and I may or may not miss the Lava Crab ZA mount run on Thursday. Jury's out on that one still.
This isn't me saying "I'm leaving!" This is me saying I'm taking a brief vacation, that's all. Also, it's Mavandon's fault.
Much love, see you guys more regularly next week-ish!

Kay, so time for me to update whowever is interested on what's going on over here in my small corner of New Zealand. I'm sure all (read: a couple) of you miss me hugely, but I can't come back quite yet. =(
When I left, I had assignment deadlines coming up for uni in all my subjects, was planning on being back after about a week and a half or so. Turned out the day after I got all those finished, I got hit with follow-up assignments on all fronts. Bummer.
So I'm almost done with those, which is good, and I hoped I'd have time to get back to WoW in the middle of this week sometime, but seems I also have mid-year exams coming up next week so... I will be back as soon as I stop being mired down by all this damn life stuff.

Reducing Stupidity
Submitted by Tankard on Tue, 06/03/2008 - 15:52.
Honestly, I only pay attention to the wall of green text that spews on my console about 20% of the time. Part of the reason for this is the level of stupid it contains. So, in the interest of reducing a bit of the stupid, here are some rules for trying to be funny.
#1) Be original. If I see one more "That's what she said." when someone is trying to be funny I'm going to send a million volts through your computer chair. Trust me, I'll find a way. Instead, come up with a clever and original way to say the same thing. "Who's got two thumbs and Keisjaa's mom to stick them in? <-- this guy." is getting on the right track. But with a little thought (yes, the hard part) you can do even better. "If you notice Allikat's pussy getting looser, sorry Shihli, that's my bad." would not only leave some people incapacitated in laughter, it would be remembered too.
#2) Use implication. Don't just call someone a whore, imply it. Implication causes people to use their imaginations and sometimes they imagine even worse than what you intended. "You know why people follow Jas all the time, right? They're hoping for a freebie." is a reasonable example.
#3) Diction. You don't get as much respect for your attempt at humor if your spelling is horrendous and you're using shorthand for everything. It makes you look like a hack and it isn't quotable. "UR all my beetches cuz I pwnd al ur moms." just makes people want to hurt you.
I think 3 rules is enough for now. Don't want to cause any brain hemorrages.
YAAlt (Yet Another Alt)
Submitted by Finndo on Fri, 05/23/2008 - 07:44.
I have finally decided what to do for an alt. And the winner is.......
PRIEST!!!!
Yes, I will be working on a Human Priest for my alt. I was working out how my talents will be chosen, it will either be <meh> or OMGZ this sucks!!!!. I guess I will find out. The spec I am thinking about is 45/5/11. Since I know I will very likely will not be raiding (especially as an alot), I figure I have some leeway in my builds. I should be strong enough to heal both 5 and 10 mans, and also provide some punch on offense, not to mention the imp spirit buff, which looks mighty nice, as well as be able to reasonable fend off would be gankers.
here is the build.

The Downfall 5-Man Experiment
Submitted by garreth on Tue, 05/20/2008 - 09:23.
Downfall has always been about more than just raiding. We have many members that prefer not to raid, instead, they enjoy casual 10-mans, questing and 5-man runs. However, we've found that these people tend not to be very good at actually getting a group together. So Dufe has come up with a system that should help our industrious casual players.
We now have 5-man events scheduled for each night per week in our calendar: http://downfallguild.org/event. If you know you will be online, sign up and leave a comment on that node. In Downfall, we like to give our members as many tools as possible to be successful. If people just pay attention, check the site and communicate, we like to think that we can keep them as busy as they want to be.
And, without further ado, here' a picture of a bunny with a pancake on his head:
