Drops:
[Cord of Absolution] - Antiquite
[Thunderheart Belt] - Closer
[Skyshatter Belt] - Nhia

"Paladins are the healers who really get left behind. They were the kings of healing in early Burning Crusade, but the most efficient way to use them in Sunwell is quite sadly having them outside of the raid buffing people."

Operation: Brutallus
Submitted by saedo on Thu, 06/05/2008 - 10:15.

Brutallus is a fairly simple fight, but very unforgiving. It is a Patchwerk 2.0. A gear check. We need the dps, we need the tanks not to get gibbed, and need the healers to heal through it all in a 6 minute span. Kinda like Archimonde where 1 death can wipe us, though not an obvious quick cascade of deaths like with soul charges, more of a slow grinding halt when the enrage timer creeps up.
He has 10,000,000 hp and a 6 minute enrage timer. That means it requires a 27,778 raid DPS.
It's a 2 tank fight, 7 healers, and the rest will be DPS. So on average, each dps has to output 1737 DPS on their own.
For the most part, it's tank and spank fight like a Teron. So should be one of the better optimal situations for any dps class. Stuff like [Elixir of Demonslaying], [Haste Potion], and [Destruction Potion] should be used liberally.

Well, after a few pulls tonight, some great synnergy and communication (as well as a little luck), Kalecgos finally clicked and we killed our first internet dragon as a raid since Nefarian:
It's a challenging fight requiring great execution and a very specific raid make-up. Great job to all the Hamfist members who wiped for the nights that we committed to this! Also, special thanks to the people that graciously stepped out for raid composition. It's always hard to ask people to sit out on progression fights. However, everyone was highly motivated and attitudes were great!
Drops:
[Pantaloons of Calming Strife] - Antiquite
[Bracers of Absolution] - Keisjaa
[Bracers of the Malefic] - Dikymo
[Lightbringer Bracers] - Garreth

Great job, again, to all of you! We even went and poked Brutallus to say "HAI!":
It feels kind of cool to be a legitimate "Sunwell Guild", for whatever that is worth. It's also great to know that we're keeping up with content and will get to experience the vast majority of it before Wrath comes out!

This is my understanding of the new "Buddy System" we're going to attempt on Kalecgos next week to avoid the "whoops tank's dead" issues we've been having.
Hit me with some feedback and we'll keep it updated. Hit "Original" to see it at full size, it's huge.
Guild Sunwell trash farming

Some phat loots lie in sunwell off trash. We'll be farming this right after mAlt. This will be a roll run, but if we don't get enough guildies, it will become a gkp, so make sure to have gold on you just in case.
Downfall Visits Sunwell

"What the shit is a portal?"Downfall's Raid: Hamfist has met their goal of clearing both BT and Hyjal before our final night of weekly raiding. This leaves Monday, April 28 wide open for our first official night in Sunwell Plateau.
We ask that ALL raiders be intimately familiar with all trash and Kalecgos strategies. Saedo has written up a straightforward guide to trash here: http://www.downfallguild.org/node/1973 Also, please have this strat committed to memory before Monday: http://www.bosskillers.com/cgi-bin/bbguild/index.cgi?action=view_guide&g...
We WILL be taking boss shots Monday night, so be prepared.
How to Fix Hamfist Raiding
Submitted by Shihli on Tue, 04/01/2008 - 10:21.
This is something I've been thinking about a lot lately, Garreth -
I don't think adding more days to the raiding calendar is going to help, not in the way one might think anyway. Instead of adding more days, we need to begin asking for more from our raiders.
Hear me out.
We have it set up so that under ideal circumstances, everyone is in raid and at BT at 7pm *sharp* for first pulls. Invites start going out at 6:30. However, many nights invites aren't out until 6:40 and people start getting la-dee-da on us, asking us to wait for them to finish dailies, they need something crafted, etc etc. While this is all well and good, it delays the start of the raid even further than normal. Eventually enough people trickle in to raid at 7:30 for us to actually START raid - now a half our late.
Once we do start raiding, people aren't paying attention during trash or on "easy" boss fights (Supremus, for example) and so they die in silly ways that end up costing us MORE time. Then a number of people have to go afk because of god-knows-what (for the record, going afk to vomit or what not is totally fine). THEN someone d/c's and we have to wait for them (even if just for trash).
In short, we've gotten really relaxed. Which is fine, from the standpoint that a lot of us just got off work and would rather be chill and groovy than uptight. However, from the standpoint of wanting to kill bosses and *progress*, this isn't working.
What I propose is this:
1) When we say invites go out at 6:30, they go out at 6:30. Finish your dailies before raid starts, or after raid is done. Get your pots/stuff made before raid starts, or after it is done. Don't ask the raid to wait for your health pots.
2) When we say pulls start at 7:00, they start at 7:00. We won't wait for you. If you missed your summon, too bad - get here faster.
The Great Sunwell Experiment
Submitted by garreth on Tue, 03/25/2008 - 15:29.
Sunday afternoon. We're going to be scraping our best and most-geared raiders (read: those online) together for our first scheduled shot at Sunwell trash and Kalecgos.
Save your "QQ I can't raid 6 days a week" posts, please. Be on if you want want to take the first steps into SW. This is not a required raid, but you better believe I'll be guilting the hell out of you if you're online and not in raid ;)
Magisters' Terrace
Submitted by Ardea-Lepp on Tue, 03/25/2008 - 08:53.
Magisters' Terrace is a new 5-man instance located on the Isle of Quel'Danas which will be implemented with Patch 2.4. The instance features four bosses: Selin Fireheart, Vexallus, Priestess Delrissa and none other than Kael'thas Sunstrider himself, who has returned despite his "defeat" in Tempest Keep: The Eye.
Instance: http://www.wowhead.com/?zone=4095#bosses
The plan is to rep grind before LF1m starts at 1800
This instance is supposed on-par with SL. No really unique bosses.. there is
- Selin Fireheart (Warlord Kalithresh in Steamvaults) http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=24723
- Vexallus (Curator except the tank wants to gain aggro on the energy things) http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=24744 (Note: he drops [Latro's Dancing Blade] as the companion to [Latro's Shifting Sword] meh)
- Priestess Delrissa (Moroes... adds are 100% CC-able) http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=24560
- Kael'thas Sunstrider (a 2 phase resemblance of himself in TK complete with gravity lapse) http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=24664
Sign up if you are interested:
I plan to go as Ardea (healingor Tanking) or Porter... Lepp at least once for the quest reward http://www.wowhead.com/?item=35488
The Complete Raiding Rogue Guide
Submitted by saedo on Tue, 02/12/2008 - 10:05.
This is my guide for the raiding rogue, or those aspiring to be one. It covers everything you'd need to know about specs, gearing, and the dps itself. Hope you find this useful. Feel free to suggest things to add or ask questions. Enjoy.
My sources will be from various people and posts at Elitist Jerks, WoWWiki, and WoW Forums. Pretty much in that order of importance.
Definitions
SnD - Slice and Dice
Cycle - The order in which you use up your combo points. Often, notation will look like 1s/5r or 5s/5r basically Xs/Yr. What that denotes is to use finisher "s" after X amount of combo points, then finisher "r" after Y amount of combo points, then repeat. In our cases, "s" will be Slice and Dice, "r" will be Rupture, "e" will be Eviserate. Also, an additional notation sometimes is "Xs/Yr cut". What "cut" means is to start the cycle again immediately refreshing SnD even if there is a lot of time left on it. Those type of cycles tend to tell you that your energy will start to cap before SnD wears off and it's not worth using other finishers, so it's better to just refresh SnD beforehand.
Energy Capping - Energy comes at 20 sec per tick (normally) regardless of what you do and caps at 100 (normally). When energy is capped out at 100, additional energy ticks do nothing and are thus wasted.
7 Commandments of Rogue DPS
First off, here's a great set of rules Aldriana at EJ posted for rogues. If nothing else, follow these to maximize your dps.
